Imagine if WWE renamed him and put him in NXT. Regal: "and Takeover Brooklyn, you'll be defending that North American championship against NXT's newest signing - Tyson Elite!!" I just made myself irrationally angry and a little bit sick typing that. His catchphrase? "You can't beat...an Elite! Beat, beat...an Elite! Beat...an Elite! Beat, beat...an Elite!"

I bet Jericho chimed in and noted that he was counting on being able to do the new AEW promotion and do some other big dream matches in NJPW. It seems goofy to not allow guys to do both. As of now though I think NJPW needs to rethink this. I mean have you looked at these cards for New Beginning? Yikes. Its entirely possible ROH has said that if NJPW works with AEW the MSG blows up, as at the end of the day the MSG show is an ROH show. NJPW apparently did try to work with both companies but if ROH plays hardball they are stuck until at least April

I like the New Beginning cards. There are some roster gaps to fill, but that's mostly due to them sending a portion of the roster to America at the same time.

My thought on it is this. If AEW ends up with a good TV deal, we're talking TBS/TNT here, I think NJPW will eventually wonder why they are propping up ROH's cards without getting a ton in exchange. In an ideal world these Elite guys wouldn't even be doing this silliness and just stay with ROH and NJPW and grow both companies worldwide. This is one time where Vince didn't even have to resort to monopolistic tactics. ROH's MSG show is cratering enough without WWE's interference. The MSG show is sold out, dude.

The show is sold out of course but the venue might be half empty on the night of the show since a bunch of people might just put their tickets online for sale. I frankly think a bunch of scalpers bought up a ton of tickets thinking it would be a hot ticket, only to now find a lot of the primary draws aren't in the company anymore. And it's not even like bitter fans can blame Vince for any of it since Cody and Co. simply left to do this AEW boondoggle. Does anyone seriously think ROH will be able to sell out a major venue again after this?

I like a lot of the Japanese guys and honestly never gave a damn about Cody or the Bucks, and I'm kinda glad they won't be clogging up New Japan shows, but I still want my Omega. I would be PISSED if I paid money thinking I'd see Omega and then he's not there. I guess technically he was never explicitly advertised, and 'Card subject to change' and all that, but still.

Why are you guys acting like that tweet about things are changing was printed in his newsletter? Meltzer was just letting people know shit is going down and getting interesting. It's pretty obvious things are going to be happening, that is why everyone is crapping on the tweet. We know there will be news on talent, who is going where, if they have a relationship with NJPW/ROH or other companies and they still have a show to announce. Dave tweeting this is redundant.

I don't get it, what did New Japan do wrong with Omega? They had him end Okada's historic title reign, he got to work title matches with his friends, he reunited with Ibushi, he has main event the Dome two out of the last three and got to completely book his feud/match with Jericho the one year he wasn't, he got to use his video as his entrance at Wrestle Kingdom, he has a very limited schedule compared to the Japanese talent and he makes the second highest salary in the company. New Japan has literally done everything in their power to try and make him happy. If he leaves, it is because of outside forces. WWE made him a stupid offer that New Japan can't match, and his friends started their own wrestling company. Despite all of that, there is still a chance he stays. But if he doesn't it had nothing to do with New Japan booking him poorly or mistreating him. Now if Okada, Tanahashi or LIJ aren't at MSG, then people can complain. But they are going to bring in the star power for the MSG show. If they don't and try to make some lame 10 man tag the main event with no title matches, people can bitch.

I'm really hoping he doesn't end up going to WWE for the reason that WWE's got more than enough f***ing dudes sucked up in to its vortex of pure boredom and nothingness.

Yet I currently have three different offers for tickets from people who do not want to attend the MSG show anymore, so I may also be in the minority there.

I don't want this dude having modern style 20 minute nothing matches every week and then become just another dude within like a month. I could see him getting an AJ push but AJ hasn't been fun to watch outside of a few matches in forever.

The show will be fine and ROH will have to work itself back into a favorable position if they want to succeed again in the future. Let's stop blaming the Elite for ROH's laziness and reliance on them. They don't owe ROH shit.

So listening to the latest WOR,Meltzer is reporting that WWE does not feel confident in their chances of getting Omega and that he is likely going to AEW. NJPW has also be reviewing their thought process on how they are going to treat AEW because they really don't want to lose Omega

So listening to the latest WOR,Meltzer is reporting that WWE does not feel confident in their chances of getting Omega and that he is likely going to AEW. NJPW has also be reviewing their thought process on how they are going to treat AEW because they really don't want to lose Omega Yeah, I don't think losing Kenny would be a death blow to NJPW's chances at western expansion (they were already growing in popularity in the US before Kenny signed), but there's no getting around that he's their gaijin face to the world and their biggest foreign draw, and if they want to run a venue like the arena in Dallas then it behooves them to have Omega there. Samoa Joe's initial contract with NXT would have allowed him to continue working ROH and other indy dates, obviously before WWE saw how quickly his merch sold and made him exclusive; I wonder how creative New Japan is willing to get on this end for Kenny, because I can't think of another wrestler in the past fifteen years or so besides Brock who's been in such a good position to dictate his own terms. I get them wanting to stick by ROH leading to the MSG show, but where I wonder about things is just how much in competition ROH and AEW will really end up being with one another. There's no getting around it: ROH is a syndicated show, and AEW seems to want major cable network exposure, it's just not the same level. I know they'd obviously be in competition for some of the same talent, but with Sinclair not sinking a ton of money into ROH I don't really see what's to gain by having an adversarial relationship, here. Of course, AEW isn't even officially a thing we can judge, yet, so I'm speaking prematurely on a lot of this, but hey, it's a speculation thread.
