Lots of shows this time around. All results courtesy wrestlingdata.com
This is the same Estrada that would have one single WWE match, and a PPV at that - as part of the 6-man at Royal Rumble '97
Man, that's a dog of a card. Certainly a few good workers there, but none of those pairings look pleasant. JYD/Valentine might have been fun, but I have a feeling this is one of those lame "Valentine calls it quits and walks out of the match" type countouts. He did that a lot.
This one doesn't look much better, and this main looks fun the way the JYD/Val one might have been.
Willing to bet Wrestling 2 jobbed to Brother Bruti here.
Super Tiger is Sayama, aka original Tiger Mask
Sayama vs. Finlay? I need to track that down.
Bernie Wright is Alex's uncle.
The Exterminator is promoter Al Tomko under a mask. Tomko is considered once of the worst territory promoters ever.
Rick Patterson went on to be the Leatherface over in Japan (but not the one in Memphis)
Butch Moffat is Karl Moffat, aka Jason the Terrible in Stampede (but not the one in Japan)
Rick Davis is promoter Al's son Todd Tomko.
According to his link, Spider Webb also had gimmicks called The Ball Player and Dr. Zhivago. I have to wonder how that progression occurred.
Mr. Ebony = Tom Jones
Ed Wiskowski = Col. DeBeers
No, not that Tom Jones
This Cuban Assassin was Angel Acevedo.
Gotta be honest, not impressed with the card. Not bad, per se, just...eh.
Yamada = rookie Jushin Thunder Liger
As Mr. Ito, Ueda had a long tenure in what would become the Mid-South/UWF.
This Wild Samoan was Samu/Samula.
Tiger Toguchi = Tiger Chung Lee
I just want to point out that in the previous seven cards, there was only one known title match and no stipulation matches. And here comes Watts with two of each.
Hercules was adding the "Sheik" moniker because he was working for Skandar Akbar and was part of his stable.
Landel and Reed had been partners but Reed turned face when Landel sold their services to Akbar, who Reed wanted no part of. A shoeshine match in Mississippi. Yay.
Duggan/Williams was probably a fun brawl.
Armstrong was an odd duck as North American champ. It was almost but not quite the young up and comer wins big title almost by accident thing. Brad never seemed the focus of the company during his time as champ, though honestly, nor did the Nightmare who followed him. Ladd was nearing the end of his run here.
Ole trying to keep things going after Black Saturday.
Championship Wrestling from Georgia from Ohio.
Hart = Barry Horowitz, Khrushchev = Demolition Smash/Repo Man and Jesse Barr = Jimmy Jack Funk
Norvell Austin was one of the original members of the Midnight Express when it first started as a 3-man team with Condrey and Randy Rose.
This Sweet Brown Sugar was Skip Young
I think this is the same "Golden" Mike Golden that was main-eventing in Texas All-Star about a year and a half later. Basically a Nature Boy gimmick without the moniker.
Brody had to go by "King Kong" here because Dick the Bruiser was still around at times (and thus why Bundy had to be Boom Boom Bundy when he arrived).
1985 Road Warriors jobbing to Baron Von Raschke is a crime against the sport and a major symptom of Verne not capitalizing on the biggest thing he had at the time.
Fairly stacked card there. Seems like it only drew 2,000 though. Shame. I've never been too familiar with Austin's health as a wrestling town.
Brazo de Plata = Super Porky
This appears to be Giant Haystacks/Loch Ness' only All Japan tour, working 23 matches in 27 days.
