Much has been made about Vince’s recent promise about change, and I see there’s another thread saying the show has looked the same for years.
But...how do you drastically change a wrestling show? There will always be matches, there will always be promos, there will always be commentary..what can be done that will make you think “OK..now this is something fresh and new.” It’s wrestling, how do you change it?

I don't know.... but it's got be a long term change. It's got to be something we won't necessarily see right away, but over time. Small changes that last a couple weeks/months isn't cutting it.

I don’t think most here are expecting WWE to try and re-invent the wheel, they just want WWE to make a few changes to better indicate that they’re giving it a proper go. Easing up on some of the production techniques that get annoying, like the camerawork and the hard scripting of promos. A better rotation in terms of using their whole rosters, both in storylines and in match combinations. Using a wider variety of storytelling elements so they don’t fall back on the same handful of tropes. And generally just featuring as the top stars those who are getting the strongest reactions. You sort those things out, and just about everything else falls into place.

Yeah. Malibu Stacy with a new hat can still sell, it just has to be a really good and interesting hat.

1: Not having long pointless confrontations.
2: When you book a falls count anywhere, you can have it spill back into the arena but it doesn't need to end in the center of the damned ring every time.
3 More stuff like the second chance rumble, IE: matches that mean something for the lower card guys
4: Stop pulling the rug out from guys who are over, It deflates the audience when you job out a person their behind.
5: Maybe just maybe start pushing some new guys like you said you were instead of more screen time for Sweatstain Shane
Just a few off the top of my head

I'd like to see less scripted promos. Let the guys succeed or fail on their own merits. I get their a "corporation" now, but the product is at it's best when it feels like anything can happen. Just my opinion.

I don't think there is anyway to actually change WWE...they can improve on so many things but an complete overall change is never happening.
Like IMO there are 3 major business models in wrestling now each unique to themselves.
NJPW - focused on live events very sports oriented and use TV to air things from those live events
LU - Specifically TV oriented runs in seasons no live events
WWE - Some attempt at combining both with weekly live tv and live events all year round
There is no changing it on that level but they can improve on what they suck ass at which is really what everyone wishes for.....better use of the roster , MUCH MUCH MUCH better story telling etc

Let people play to their strengths. Some people are terrible at scripted promos, but are amazing when they allowed to write their own stuff.
Also try and get as many people on the show as you can get. I have a philosophy that every wrestler Is somebody's favorite wrestler. So even if you give Tyler Breeze 90 seconds to do something on Raw to try to get over a little bit.

1. Treat it like a sport. Shoot it like a sport and have your broadcasters call it like a sport.
2. Have clear faces and heels.
3. Less heat. Faces need to go over more often.
4. 75% less stupid comedy.
5. Angles that make sense featuring motivations that are easy to understand.

1-every match should serve a purpose of some sort. Number one contender, title match, tournament or battle royal qualifier, something. No more of these 20 minute 6 person tags just because.
2-don’t have people in the commentators ear. Just give them notes and let them call the show as they see fit. We’ve already seen this to an extent with some of the international shows and the difference especially with Cole is noticeable.
3-stuff like the Michael Cole sit down interviews the mini documentaries should be on TV, not web exclusives. And not just for main eventers. Should be for everyone to help everyone get over.
Just little things like that would help.

Change the way the set looks.
Stop the same formula for every match and make people have different styles instead of EVERYONE doing a dive etc
Stop making them shoehorn trademark lingo and catchphrases into promos. Let people talk like humans.
Stop having the same matches over and over and over and over.

-Less Camera Cuts. It's nausea inducing. And less focus on the hard cam. Matches end logically.
-Matches have meaning. Rising up, personal stakes, titles, that stuff.
-Biweekly interviews with Cole. He's good at that. Which leads to....
-Commentary changes. No more 3 man booths, Tom & Graves call RAW, Vic & Nigel call SDL. Renee(RAW) and Saxton(SDL) are backstage interviewers. Also return of the WWF Sports jackets.
-Maximize the roster. EVERYONE is important. There's those who rise to the top but the lower card aren't treated like also rans. No more of this "Have Fun & Entertain" shit. If you need script, use it. If not...your free to call it as it is.
-No more McMahons. WWE President Paige Knight and she only makes important decisions.
-Feel the room, book accordingly.

Different production and camera angles.
Less shilling in commentary.
More professional and realistic backstage segments
No GMs.
Dont push everything around one guy only.
Less Rematchs
Less scripts
Push wrestlers people are vocal about.
Shake up the title scenes.
More personality and less brandng into wrestlers entrances and costumes.
let people Sell and use more psychology
No 20 minute promos starting the show
And that is just the tame stuff. You could do away with finishing moves for example.
You could make official rules and guidelines and FOLLOW then,no asspulls for match results.
Break the tapping out stigma.

You don't, they need to get out of the short-term thinking be that drastic changes, stunt booking or the reliance on nostalgia they've gone with in recent times.
Gradual and natural change is better, they just need to create an environment where that is allowed to happen.

I'm serious. Even more than any of the actual wrestlers or their matches, Lucha Underground's biggest positive has been its complete aesthetic/stylistic overhaul of how televised pro wrestling can be presented. We've seen some similar stuff integrated into other promotions (mostly Impact, *snicker*, but WWE's been drawing on it too, to a lesser extent), and I'd love to see WWE take more cues from LU's format.

McMahons ousted and put in their places are people with a worldview and ideas more palatable to people under 40.
