...Is not as important as what you leave behind.
I've had the idea for this thread for some time, and reading and responding to the posts in the Ask A Mod thread finally compelled me to post.
What particular posts, threads, members, etc. do you fondly remember of FAN? As I said in my post in the Ask thread, I vividly remember and enjoy quite a lot of posts here over the years, but damned if I can remember which members wrote them. FAN has also influenced me in some small ways, like changing my mind on certain video games or movies or books.
Posts that I remember...
I think it was on the TNA board, someone wrote a script about Kevin Nash revealing secrets about himself, and one I'll always remember, and once in a while say in real life, "This one time me and some friends were driving through Cincinnati, and I yelled out the window 'it's great to be in Cincinnati!' That was a lie."
A post was made about a Konnan match in ROH, about how bad his conditioning was, and his bizarre colorful and very tight attire that threatened to suffocate Konnan's sphincter.
I now religiously follow dril thanks to this forum, and have turned a couple coworkers on to him.
I've brought this post up many times, but a very proud and happy Big Show showing off his purchased strip mall with a collection of sad doomed stores. A vape store, a store that only sells Christmas decorations, another vape store...
There was a whole thread about a bizarre social interaction at a bar or dance club, and every time the OP would post to clarify or answer questions, the situation just got weirder and weirder. And to me, the funny part was, chazraps would post "Are you sure this happened?", then "Are you really sure this happened?" And his posts were totally no sold as everyone else was trying to answer or deconstruct this bizarre social situation.
I bought Resident Evil 5 solely because this board recommended it.
Someone posted a news article about a person buying an iPhone in a parking lot, only to go home and open the box and find two actual apples inside. One person said the buyer was Sting. I laughed because of Sting's well known history of being stabbed in the back, and picturing Sting just being duped left and right.
There was a thread about misunderstood jobs not too long ago, and one poster described their job as a local government worker for a DOT type agency, and it was absolutely fascinating.
I love the That Happened and various other wrestling trivia and history threads on here, particularly when Madison talks about incredibly obscure wrestling federations.
TNA threads about their nonstop dumpster fires. In particular the constant making fun of Abyss. The thread about TNA headquarters moving into an industrial complex, and a poster hoping they get evicted for something stupid like Abyss constantly parking in the wrong spots. Or a rhyme that was made for some reason about Abyss, and it ended with, "...blows himself up just like a ballon / this fat man might die soon".
In the thread about Ric Flair's 30 For 30 documentary, one poster hoped they would interview Scott Steiner, just for him to shout that Ric Flair is a butt sucking bastard.
There are more, and I regret that I can't remember them all to give them credit. What about everyone else here? What will you remember, and what will you take with you?
