Triple H vs "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 17?
I dont recall Hogan ever being asked? I thought he was under contract to Time Warner?

I've heard about this, but not sure how far the talks got. Hogan was still under contract, I believe, so it would have been a fairly substantial buyout on top convincing Hogan to do it.
I think it worked out for the best though with the respective Wrestlemania matches that we got.

I am guessing Hogan was being asked to job if he turned it down.

Not sure how Hulk thought he could be a star without losing to Triple H.

Ray Lewis!? I had never heard that before. The promo wars between those two would have been hilariously terrible. And you know they would have snuck what Ray was accused of in there too. HHH had plot angle armor by then.

Hogan may have still been under contract to WCW (the "Hogan was under contract to Turner/TW" thing is a myth), but he did get out of early at some point because he supposed to be under that deal until May 2002.

Why do you say this is a myth? It is well known Hogan’s contract was always on Turner’s books from day 1 in 94.

Ray Lewis!? I had never heard that before. Ray definitely should have taken a stab at it.

This lines up with Bischoff's recent statement that Hogan was under contract to WCW and his salary came out of WCW's budget.

I think it worked out for the best though with the respective Wrestlemania matches that we got. I believe Hogan was still actively involved in a lawsuit against WCW and Russo in early 2001, which kept him from wrestling for a while as part of his claim was his market value was diminished by what Russo said.

They missed a golden opportunity to do HHH vs. HHH a few years ago.

And yet they didn't repurpose the Ray Lewis build where the lights went out and a different audience member turned up dead every week for Taker.

I wish this had happened. 15 minutes of no selling before the double countout.

I think they bought Hogan's contract out in January 2002, so they would have done so, but would Vince really have spent that amount of money to buy Hogan out? (March 2001-May 2002) that's a lot of money. I doubt he would.
Ive heard the Ray Lewis rumours but WWE.COM put on thier website that it was Mike Tyson he was supposed to face.

Oh you know what, you are right, that is what Bischoff has been saying and I was wrong. Got confused, my bad.
