"You know what? Hogan wanted to lose the title to me one time to get me involved with the nWo," said Miller. "But then, if you noticed, we had so much little to nothing going on outside of the nWo. nWo was taking over the show so much that they didn't want the whole show to be about the nWo, so they had to build people who can actually draw ratings. So I was one of the ones who wasn't involved in the nWo, but I was still drawing good ratings when I would go out. It worked. There were a few of us that could draw ratings on our own without being involved in the nWo." Regarding not winning the world title, Miller explained why it did not happen. "Hulk Hogan came to me and repitched me a thing to where he wanted to drop the belt to me, the world champion belt to me, then chase me a few weeks to get it back," said Miller. "And, I remember the booking committee, which consisted of Eric Bischoff at that time, said, 'Listen. That sounds good, but we rather for you to keep the belt for a while if we are going to put the belt on you. We don't want you to win it on a Monday, then lose it again on a Thursday.' But, Hogan thought I was over enough to drop the belt to me." Penzer, who said that he was working in talent relations at the time with Terry Taylor, confirmed Miller's story. "I remember 100 percent Hulk pitching you as a short-term champion," said Penzer. "That is 100 percent true if anybody tries to say you're full of it. I got your back on that." www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2019/01/ernest-miller-discusses-nixed-idea-to-have-him-defeat-hulk-649677/

That would have been pretty damn random but if he was over enough then it wouldn't have been that bad, I, uh, guess?

This actually makes me think of The Wrestler movie, the one with Mickey Rourke (where more or less one of the inspirations for his role was Hulk Hogan) and where his kayfabe rival wrestler in the film was actually played by Ernest Miller!

By drop the title to him, he meant Hogan will drop the title on the ground by accident, and Earnest Miller would happen to be passing by, pick it up and hand it back.

*Talking about literally any other wrestler*
"Brother, we got to put the belt on this cat right here, dude"
*Ernest Miller happens to be in earshot*

Yeah, the phrase "Hogan wanted to lose the title" makes me immediately skeptical. Like, Sting could have said this and I wouldn't believe him. Ernest Miller being the one saying this makes me believe it even less.

I imagine Hogan said this to a lot of people. It reminds me of that storyline with the nWo Black & White in early 99 where he went to each of the Black & White members (Norton, Stevie Ray, Vincent, Brian Adams) and told each of them they were the leader of nWo Black & White which caused the in-fighting between them lol.

I do find it kind of hilarious that his claim for why it didn't happen was the bookers saying they didn't want to hotshot the belt around too quickly given the whole, y'know. Entirety of 2000.

Yeah, Hogan offering to drop it to Miller was probably a political move. He was probably also willing to drop it to Hugh Morrus, Van Hammer, Scotty Riggs and Mongo.
Of course, Bisch would go "uh, no thanks."

Yeah, Hogan offering to drop it to Miller was probably a political move. It was. Hogan was trying to use Miller because of Miller's connection to Bischoff.
