Jesus Christ. Twenty years. Funny enough, the original name of the show was going to be "Family Guy", which has also been on, well...on and off...for twenty years too.

Never watched it when it was actually on HBO. Have watched the series a few times since and it is probably my all-time favorite show.

20 years? Yeah, that seems about right. I remember renting season 1, on VHS, from Blockbuster. Simply one of the best and most influential shows of all-time. So many shows, that I’ve enjoyed over these 20 years, don’t exist without the Sopranos.

Some of the guys... they aren’t showing the proper respect for this anniversary. We gotta straighten em out.

"Don't stop..."
Yeah, I would have liked a better ending. I don't think Tony was killed, they settled everything. There was no reason to whack Tony.
One of my favorite episodes was when Ralphie killed Tracee. Very dark, very real and deep. Just really solidified your hate for Ralph. And then him killing Tony's horse. You couldn't wait to see him get his, and for Tony to do it made it even sweeter.
You also saw Tony's human side in that he didn't want to get too close to Tracee, but he didn't want anything bad to happen to her. Him snapping and going after Ralph just set a lot in motion. Great show.

It’s my favourite drama of all-time.
Goddamn, what a show. It was so well-written and we’ll-acted and James Gandolfini’s charisma was off the charts.
Here is this objectively terrible man who was an actual criminal and murderer and a man who treated his family like garbage, but week in and week out, you found yourself rooting for this monster.
It’s a testament to the writing and to Gandolfini’s magnetism. He was an incredible talent.

Loved the show the First time I watched it. Then 6 years ago got the entire run cheap on DVD. YEA it doesn't hold up that well for me. Still love the ending. For me the best mafia/mob show is Boardwalk Empire.

You know, Quasimodo predicted all of this.

Great show. I always thought he was. While killing Phil Leotardo was sanctioned the hit is inadvertently way more gruesome than intended. I thought his allies, in mafia logic, had a thought of “its one thing to kill a guy, but this?”

And just because they'd say they would back off doesnt mean they actually would, it is the MOB after all. Also Butch was the first guy itching to take Tony out, even before Phil gave the go ahead, Butch always hated Tony. Regardless if Tony lived or died, he would of got life in prison anyway so his time was up either way.

I actually visited some of the locations in the NY/NJ area where they filmed the show; my parents took a picture of me sitting on the exact bench on the Asbury Park boardwalk where Tony set himself on fire (in a dream sequence) in the Season 2 finale. And that episode that opens with Tony in the shopping mall, with the carousel? That’s the Palisades Center in West Nyack, New York.

I thought his allies, in mafia logic, had a thought of “its one thing to kill a guy, but this?” I also like to go by Steve Perry of Journey, who was a fan of the show, told them they couldn't use "Don't Stop Believing" if Tony died. So unless they flat out lied to him, I think Tony is alive. 😊
