It's such a shame that Elizabeth's final years turned out the way they did. Miss Elizabeth was such a beloved character in wwf. Her moments at wm4, wm5, and wm7 alone were hof worthy. The match made in heaven. The feud with Roberts. Her character was so sweet and shy and everyone loved her. That's why it hurt to see her do a random heel turn in wcw to align with flair and then join nwo. Her reported year or years with luger as the other woman and a pill popper were disappointing to say the least.
So was Elizabeth always trash or did something happen? I wonder if the sweet Elizabeth persona was totally fake or if she changed in real life. Of the latter, what happened and was luger totally to blame for her downfall?

She'd been through a lot with the overprotective Savage and then she meets Luger who introduced her to Very Bad Things and got her addicted.

Take one of the sweetest, most wholesome women in the profession and turn her into a slutty, scumbag heel with over inflated breasts? Two words: Vince Russo

It's not a case of her being trash or a princess.
Miss Elizabeth was a character, not a person.
None of us knew the real person, just the image. I can't think of any stories that came out about her but she was probably just a normal person with good and bad qualities.
In the late 90s, it could have just been doubts about aging and comparing herself to the other women in the industry that lead to stuff like the implants. She was in a company with a lot of addicts, it's sad but not unpredictable she might try things and get in over her head like thousands of other people do.

Two words: Vince Russo I get your point but all that happened before Russo got to wcw and the implants I always heard was in late 98 Liz wasn’t being used on tv and Savage makes a one off return while injuried and he brought his new 20 year old stripper girlfriend seeing this it affected Liz who was pushing 40 and competing with women half her age in a T&A era so the next time we see her she got super sized gazongas.

I think the use of the word trash is harsh and disrespectful. There are a lot of reasons that lead to her life ending as it did and the fact is there are a few people out there who might have a good idea but the only one who could say why it did accurately is Elizabeth Hulette. As Futeraven: British Beta said, the public knew Miss Elizabeth, a character. None knew Elizabeth Hulette.

Implants will help your image with men, but none of the good ones.

If its anything to go by, the Ultimate Warrior had written and spoken in length about Elizabeth the person, as he and Randy Savage were fast friends and travelled together. Randy would open up to him about his personal life. He says Elizabeth was indeed the sweet and kind person we all saw on TV, but ended up being manipulated into drugs by men after she left Randy. When he saw her in WCW, it was like a good person had made some bad choices but still had a heart of gold. He even lamented her passing.

Implants will help your image with men, but none of the good ones. I kind of take exception to that. Most women who get implant do it for themselves to help with their own self esteem and self image. Who are we to judge? Also, is a man any less good because he has a preference for larger breasts?

Two words: Vince Russo I don't recall Elizabeth being portrayed like a slut in WCW. She was a heel, so she did help her men by cheating at times (which she didn't do in WWE) and her breasts were surely bigger but not comedy sized like Madusa's or Gorgeous George's. As far as Vince Russo goes, Elizabeth was already a heel with bigger breasts by the time Russo got to WcW in January '99. Maybe Elizabeth saw younger females in WCW like Kimberly/Nitro Girls etc... and decided she needed to enhance her looks. Savage shielded Elizabeth from all of the drugs and booze in WWE, but in WCW she was on her own and obviously made some bad choices.

I remember hearing that part of why Savage hated Hogan and others was he felt they were trying to drag Elizabeth into the whole, partying-hard on-the-road lifestyle, and blamed them in part for the breakup. Though how much of that was just Savage's paranoia we'll never know, as the only living people involved sure wouldn't admit to it. I've definitely heard Elizabeth didn't like the life on the road and that that was a factor in the divorce.

Calling a woman with substance abuse problems "trash" is a pretty low thing to say OP.

I was always a huge miss Elizabeth fan so hearing about her sneaking around with lex and pill popping and boozing until od really hurt me.

I imagine being married to Randy Savage was difficult enough and then having to navigate your way through the sleazy scummy wrestling industry without his "protection" would have been difficult for anybody.

One of the things I always noticed about Liz was how painfully nervous she always looked on camera. I didn’t know if it was from stage-fright or anxiety or if she was like that even when she wasn’t on camera in front of millions of people, but it always made me kind of uncomfortable watching her when she looked like she was about to start crying or have a panic attack or something. Did anyone else get that vibe from her?

Thing is, she had left the business for a few years between the divorce and her WCW debut. She had escaped, she had gotten away...........but something, either internal or external, got her back in. (It's also doubly sad that no one who would know this for fact is even alive anymore. These people existed in our lifetimes and yet I think the statement still stands. )

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I thought Elizabeth was only really good and worthwhile when she was tagging along behind Randy. She couldn't talk, couldn't act, and just didn't have anything to offer beyond her looks.
She was ok with Luger when he did his "Don't call me Lex Luger" gimmick in the late 90's, because she pretty much returned to her old role as the tag-along with a heelish edge.
Outside of that one role, she always looked uncomfortable.

I liked the shy timid side of miss elizabeth. It was a nice foil for the outrageous and loud Hogan and savage. It made those moments when she was in peril with people like Sherri or brother love or Jake Roberts more effective.
Her moments when savage was turning on hogan....shedding her skirt at summerslam....sitting on savages shoulder at mania 4....returning to savages side at mania 7. Slapping flair at mania 8. All iconic. It was her delicate side that made her stand out. Rather have that than the dimes dozen floosies we saw in the late 90s.
