British Strong Style were on Good Morning Britain this morning, and Trent Seven announced that WWE will be opening a Performance Centre in the UK, but he did not say where it will be located. Apparently it's a bit smaller than the one in Orlando, and will only have two training rings, but it will have most of the other facilities that the US centre has. Makes sense with a smaller roster, bearing in mind that there's like 100 or so wrestlers working at the US base.

Seems inevitable, but interesting.

Hopefully they can get a great staff in there to get some of these kids TV ready. There’s a lot of talent in NXT UK, but not a lot of them have real presence yet. Get somebody in there developing/honing identities for people like Joseph Conners, Kenny Williams, Nina Samuels, etc.
There’s some real opportunity to make some stars who can make the jump to regular WWE.

Interesting.
And also interesting will be what they do here in the regards to talents from mainland Europe, because there's an... ongoing political situation that affects how that could work depending on which way that goes.

There's about to be a press conference, probably about this.

Rhea, Toni, and Isla all got called out by Charlotte.
Planting some seeds for a "When Worlds Collide" involving the females?

So the facility is in Enfield, and can house around 30 contracted talent. Don't think wrestlers will be asked to move there like the NXT wrestlers are for Orlando, likely because the UK is easier to navigate.

Christ, living in Enfield will toughen them up if they do decide to move there.

So Rhea, Toni and the others based in Orlando will now move to England instead?

So Rhea, Toni and the others based in Orlando will now move to England instead? I’d imagine Ripley’s dropping the title to Storm this weekend and she’ll go back to working the US since she’d already settled there. Storm never relocated to start with.

Toni will be an incredible face for NXT UK, incredibly marketable and charismatic young lady

Question is,will they have a red phone booth and black car? Otherwise they will keep confusing it with the other Perfomance Center!

And in semi-related news from the Observer, with their World Of Sport contracts expiring (and the series not being expected to go on beyond the live shows later in the month), WWE are apparently on the verge of signing Viper and Kay Lee Ray, who were both brought in for the first Mae Young Classic in 2017. So... already some possible new residents at Enfield.
They've also offered a deal to Bea Priestley, but her future is more ambiguous because of her commitments in Japan with STARDOM and her partner Will Ospreay being based there.

Gee, i'd hate for the WWE to sign her (she is very good from what I've heard so it would be cool) and that cause Will Ospreay to decide he needs to come over as well. LOL

The cynical colonisation of the British independent scene continues.
I remain unconvinced that this is anything but a negative for Britwres long term, for promoters, wrestlers and fans. Promoters see their talent snatched away by a company they’re unable to compete with financially, wrestlers have their opportunities to earn outside of WWE limited and their development impeded by the WWE style, and fans get lumbered with paying more money to see matches that aren’t as good as the ones they see on the independent circuit. NXT UK is a fairly lacklustre show, the WWE roster is becoming more and more bloated, and independent promoters are already being stepped on. It’s a short-term payday for wrestlers but once they’re out of WWE it’ll be very different.
So yeah, forgive my pessimism but I’m not in the slightest bit happy about this.

If it's any consolation, the announcement about AEW this week gives some new hope to those promotions still completely independent from WWE. As it currently stands, the powers behind AEW seem philosophically opposed to the kind of in-house development WWE's been creating and will almost certainly see outside promotions as a key to stylistic diversity and, ultimately, its success as a business. The challenge ahead will lie in what kind of influence, apart from direct control, will WWE have on how indie wrestlers wrestle and how promotions present and promote their products.
