The other day I started a thread that kind of made fun of Madonna's movie career, I thought I make up for it, by a more possitive thread, what is the best of Madonna's early albums. Before she became a more serious artist with Like a Prayer.
So which is the best of those early pop albumes.
I was only going to be a choice of her debut self titled album, Like A Virgin, and True Blue. You know what the hell with it even though they are not full original work ablums, I am going to include Who's That Girl and You Can Dance as well.
As for my choice, I am going to have think about that, probably True Blue.
PS: It is a shame the original "Into The Groove" is not on any of those albums or really in any album weather soundtrack or not.

I voted for Like A Virgin, but I think True Blue is artistically a lot more mature. I went with Like A Virgin because the songs are catchier.

It’s actually a really tough call. The re-issue of Like a Virgin does has Into the Groove but if we go with the original release, then I have to pick True Blue. It’s hard to argue with Papa don’t Preach, True Blue and Live to Tell.

I think Madonna’s later catalogue deserves more love in general (Ray of Light, Music, etc), but out of that list, True Blue.

My head True Blue is better, but my heart and love of catchy music says Like A Virgin. "Drees You Up" is great, I love "Angel" even the non singles "Pretender" and "Stay" are songs I would listen to on repeat.

I wish I could respond to Seth Farline or ever wrote that clip with a clip from Gravity Falls "Dipper vs Manliness" when he tells off the man beasts by saying the songs are catchy. But I can't find it.

For me a toss up between Madonna and True Blue, ultimately went with her very first album. Madonna was on fire in the 80's.

It’s actually a really tough call. The re-issue of Like a Virgin does has Into the Groove Maybe overseas, but not here in North America. All we got were a Dance remix of "Like A Virgin" and "Material Girl". If you want that song, you have to buy the single. Or buy the import versions of the Like a Virgin album as you previous mention has it. One note, I think the original version of her "Love Don't Live Hear Anymore" on the Like A Virgin album is better than the remix version that was released as a single on the Something To Remember album. Either way Rose Royce version was better, but still it was pretty good.

Which albums had "Crazy for you?"
And hot damn, this poll doesn't even include "Like A Prayer." I'm getting nostalgic and realizing how much of a fan I actually was.

"Crazy For You" is not on any album. The original version (along with "Gambler") is on the Vision Quest soundtrack. A remix version is on the 1990 Immaculate Collection. I cut short of "Like A Prayer" it is at another level and different part of her career, and it woudld easily get all the votes.

Tons of great singles on True Blue. "Open Your Heart" is aces.
