So tough to choose for me. I could see an argument being made for all five choices.

The correct answer is Master Of Puppets, but all four of the first four are flawless.

All four of their earlier albums are amazing in their own right. It begins and ends with Master of Puppets though.

The first three are all classics to me. It's so hard for me to pick a favorite.

Master Of Puppets is the obvious and maybe boring choice but it might be a perfect album. I don't think there's a bad track on it. I don't think I could say that about the other 4 as much as I love them all.

RTL with MOP being a very close second.

Ride the Lightning. MoP is alright, but it's bloated and aimless at times. One of the more overrated classic Metal albums, in my opinion. There are a bunch of 80's Thrash albums I prefer.

If this was just the first four then Ride The Lightning easily followed by ….And Justice For All, Kill 'Em All, and Master Of Puppets is so far behind them it can't be seen because MoP SUCKS.
But since the S/T is included, the S/T wins out.

I am really surprised Lightning is winning this. I voted Puppets.

I had a friend growing up who thought “Leper Messiah” was the only bad track on Master of Puppets. I like it though

Honestly, it's near impossible to pick a favorite from all of their albums up to and including 'Load'. 'Reload' had a few good ones but not ones I can honestly identify as anything other than shades of their former glory days ("The Memory Remains"), blatant ripoffs of their own songs ("The Unforgiven II"), or just...not Metallica sounding ("Fuel").
Of the ones listed, I'd have to rank it like this:
1) Master of Puppets 2) Ride the Lightning 3) Black (only beats #4 because it was my first) 4) ...And Justice for All 5) Kill 'Em All

It’s weird. Ride the Lightning is winning, but Master of Puppets has more vocal supporters haha.

How I'd rank them:
Ride The Lightning Kill 'Em All Master of Puppets And Justice For All
Kinda tempted to choose Kill Em All as the best, but Ride the Lightning just narrowly edges it out. If you ask me again later, my answer may be different. My least favorite is And Justice for All, though. Solid tunes, but it doesn't appeal to me the way the others do...
All 4 are solid and essential albums in any metal heads collection.
I don't give a shit about the black album, even if it is a solid hard rock album. Just unessential in the grand scheme of things.

Oh my god no love for 'Justice'....I'm disgusted. I love that album, but it was hamstrung right out of the gate thanks to Lars being an ass and nerfing Jason's bass levels. There's a fan edit of the album on YouTube that brings the bass levels up, and it sounds so great.
