We talked a bit about this in the Billionaire Ted thread. This became commonplace mostly in the 90s with the MNW and ECW present. Now, my question is...which examples still make good TV today, and which ones like the Ted skits don't hold up?

All these guys need to sit down and say, "Whatever I said, whatever I did...I didn't mean it." 😁

They're best when they're either quick and snappy or serve some overall purpose. Aron Rex ranting about being too entertaining, stupid. A quick thing like AJ Styles passingly mentioning how the AJ Lee storyline was basically ripping TNA off worked (in part since it really was more just an observation than an attack) as did something like Angle namedropping TNA on the post-Mania Raw to rub it in to Owens and Zayn.
I'm kiiind of mixed on what all went down during the Attitude Era. It did certainly lay it on way too thick at times (cough, DX tank, cough) but it did help contribute to the overall rebellious atmosphere of things and some of the stray stuff, like Vince's, "I'd rather join WCW than join DX!" worked for also pushing existing narratives.

Many haven't aged well, but the clever ones seem to stand the test of time.
While I was never much an ECW fan, Cactus Jack's Dungeon of Doom and Bischoff shirts were brilliant.
