Once this 11 GB patch is done installing I'm gong to update my in-game emblem. May as well wear this symbol with pride.

Bungie has gotta be even happier that they no longer have the stench of Activision on them

So tired of Craptivision.
Then EA just annouced it killed the open world Star Wars game it was working on.
I like Star Wars. Wish there was a good Star Wars game that came out this decade. SWTOR was the last one I enjoyed and that came out years ago.

Wanna say an update came out just yesterday, even, I just haven't gotten on yet to install it.

I would say this is unbelieveable, but it is Activision.

When I read the title, I thought "What, so they're gonna warn you when someone's been repeatedly reported in Overwatch or something? That actually sounds like a good id- oh..."
Dear lord, Activision-Blizzard really do view their userbase as nothing more than cattle, don't they? Except they're shit ranchers too, because they expect to still be able to milk their cows (or should I say, their whales) after slaughtering them. Just... seriously, are the people running these companies just robots? Have they no sense of empathy, no self-awareness? How can they keep coming with these abhorrent, exploitative ideas and think people are going to be okay with it?!

From now on, if you don't preorder a game and buy all of the released DLC, Activision will publish your home address, phone number, and sexual orientation on their FB and Twitter accounts. And that's for every game they release.

Alright, I'm gonna play a bit of devil's advocate here. I don't know quite what Activision's intention is here doing this, but it reminds me how WWE 2K does their CAWs in Community Creation. If there's a piece of a wrestler, their moveset, their attire, their entrance, that uses DLC, and the person who wants to download that doesn't have that DLC, it denotes with one of those markers that it cannot be downloaded until the person buys the DLC. It's an issue I've had frequently playing the games, but it's a minor issue that they just can't work around, even though I wish they would. Perhaps there is a compatibility issue that matchmaking has between DLC and non DLC items that requires people to know about. I don't know. But I also wouldn't be surprised if Activision really wanted to peer pressure people into buying the DLC, and did this in a ass-backwards way to push it.

But I also wouldn't be surprised if Activision really wanted to peer pressure people into buying the DLC, and did this in a ass-backwards way to push it. that's really not the same thing though. That was telling you that you don't own everything in that CAW, and that's the end of that, you only buy if you really feel like it, no third-party influence. What Activision-Blizzard is doing here is showing you others' purchase history in order to try and get you to pressure them into buying a season's pass. There's something really creepy about people being shown complete strangers' purchase history and being told "oh man, sure is a shame that you can't play the same modes together because they don't have the season pass, if only they could be convinced to get it, SOMEHOW." Hell, the fact that there are game modes that are only accessible through the season pass is just horseshit to begin with, and further goes to show that you don't get a full game for your 60$ (or60€ despite that being a lot more money, because us Europeans get screwed even harder on this kind of stuff). And frankly, it's not like 2K is any better. Hell, the fact that they sell DLC bits and pieces is pretty scummy in and of itself IMO (to say nothing of their love of micro-transactions and loot boxes). Honestly, I find it bullshit that full-price AAA games would have any sort of paywall. I don't mind paying extra for a proper expansion, that's only fair, but paying the same price as an expansion for a couple unlockables is taking the piss. Basically, we need to make this a rule. Activision's Razor: the greediest explanation is usually the correct one.

Lots of companies deciding to shame their customers this week. I always thought the adage was "the customer is always right"...looks like these days it's increasingly more like "the customer is always treated with contempt".

OK not a gamer so let me try to understand... Activision is giving players who don't subscribe a 'badge' that tells everyone else that they're not subscribers?
Doesn't that mean that they're singling out casual players as... what? Lesser players? Or maybe because they're 'casuals' you shouldn't be too hard on them?

Activision know a lot of their audience are basically kids and by adding a marker to those without the super premium version of things they'll undoubtedly feel more pressure to get that version to be the same as more fortunate friends. Activision have shown time and time again that they're psychopaths when it comes to monetization and there are no depths that they will not plumb to bleed the fanbase dry.

It's a psychological manipulation tactic to embarrass you into buying DLC. And a really transparent one at that.

Guess we know what Jim Sterling will be talking about next Monday. Probably the Randy Pitchford situation as boy is that salacious. This will probably get a smaller video later in the week.
