And to everyone still saying Crash is the worst, I don't dispute that, but Green Book is definitely staring it down and daring it to f***ing blink.

I guess the #oscarssowhite was too much a few years ago, so they gave the award to a bullshit white savior movie.

“Green Book” felt a lot like this year’s “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” in that it was getting a lot of critical acclaim early on, but that started to wane as we got closer to awards season as people recognized it as a typical Oscar bait movie.
The fact that “Green Book” won this year despite a pretty considerable backlash among entertainment media tells me that nothing really stood head-and-shoulders above this year’s crop of Best Picture nominees - there were a bunch of really good movies but none that will be remembered as historically great - so the voters went with the safest choice of the group.

I don’t think Crash is the worst by a long way. It’s certainly not one of the best but Driving Miss Daisy, Forrest Gump, Chicago, A Beautiful Mind are all worse.

The Oscars never needs another host. It was fine without one.

Also, didn't Viggo famously use the N word at a press junket? Which is ridiculous. He wasn't saying it with any malicious intent, he was saying that word was very common at the time. And it's stupid when adults having an adult conversation saying things like "N" word or "F" word. Like, grow up. Context is everything.

Man, I thought all those movies were way better than Crash lmao. It amazes me how a movie about racism missed what racism is all about by about a light year.

At all. Ever. Never. I'll say "f***" all day long if you want, but no way in hell is it ever okay to say the other word.

I had no idea what the hell Green Book was so I looked up the plot
Oh yea if that isn't pure oscar bait idk what is.
*set during a shitty notable time in history
*throw in racisim as use of major conflict in the movie
Don't mind me now I am off to win next years oscar with my script to rush hour 4

It took me a minute to realize what you were talking about, then I googled and realized, "Oh yeah, Vince actually did that."

Going back to my earlier post, this year’s group of Best Picture nominees might be the weakest since 2012, when we decided that “The Artist” was that year’s best movie.
Look back at the nominees for Best Picture in 2012: The Artist, The Descendants, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, The Help, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, and War Horse. Just a really subpar year full of forgettable movies, and I feel like we might remember 2019 much the same.

I'm not saying it should be casually used, but say I see two guys get into a fight over one hurling racial slurs. I would tell the cops exactly what I heard. I wouldn't be like a five year old saying, "He said the "N" word, officer." Or when Spike Lee gets mad that Quentin Tarantino uses it in his movies. Sorry, Spike. I love you, but that's how some people talk.

I don’t know where the backlash suddenly came from, or why it’s so severe, but I’ll die on that hill defending “Forrest Gump.”

What Spike and a lot of people don't realize is those slave owners didn't view the slaves as human. They didn't give him any kind of compassion, respect, or talk to them as if they were actual human beings. They spoke to them in a way that reflected their views of them and that was less than human.

All I remember about Crash was that it had Ludacris in it and it was "What if we took the premise of 'Falling Down', but did the opposite?" That's it.
