Brie definitely got attacks that were way out of line.
There's still no excuse for her not looking at the person she's kicking. She kept taking her eyes off Liv as she threw those kicks.

On the one hand, yes I think the reaction to this spot was absolutely ludicrous, over-the-top and at least partially founded on outdated notions about who the Bellas are as wrestlers, which is based on outdated notions of who they are as people.
On the other hand, she sunk into a deep depression... SEE IT ON TOTAL DIVAS! ...and this is part of why that notion exists.
Poor Brie. The Jannetty to someone who she's almost genetically identical with.

Your incompetence led to someone getting the shit knocked out of them. Be better at your damn job.

See, I was just going to name the topic "Brie went into a huge depression due to the Liv situation" but then that Total Divas thing appeared in my mind and I was like "man, I gotta change the title up a bit."

Yeah, I feel for her. The amount of death threats, people calling for her in ring career to be dumped over a mistake, and trolls she likely had and has to deal with is completely out of line. It’s bad enough that there are people who still claim she sucked up to Daniel to stay in the company and perceive both her and her sister as untalented bitches.
However, regardless of it being a mistake, what she did was completely worrying. You knocked out a girl cold in front of thousands of people. She could’ve had her in ring career over before it even began.

I'm sure the whole incident wouldn't have gone over so poorly with people if it hadn't happened right around the same time that she fell flat on her face trying a suicide dive. And, if I'm remembering correctly, didn't she also legit punch Miz in the face?
Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, but three times in such quick succession to each other is hard to explain away.
And worst of all, the first two accidents wouldn't even have happened if she wasn't trying to wrestle like Daniel Bryan. She's not a great wrestler to begin with, but she's absolute shit at trying to wrestle like one of the best in the business.
Also, don't shill your stupid reality show when you're trying to make me feel sorry for you. That has the opposite effect.

"I made a mistake and she's not badly injured"
She got a concussion because of your incompetence, how was she not injured badly?

Sometimes I read the titles of these threads and think, “they said that?” before I realise who the OP is 😂
This is a tough one. There were legitimate gripes about the situation because Brie was never the best wrestler to begin with, she was coming back after a long time away (when she made a new human and everything), she was coming back with her sister who hadn’t missed a beat and she was coming into a division that has stepped up a few notches since she’d last been around.
But some of the vitriol towards her was terrible. Like, weirdly so. And then the legitimate gripes get mixed in with that so it just seems like a mass of negativity.

It's not just the concussion, it's that she was rusty coming back and looked like Sin Cara after hanging out with Jake Roberts. She looked like she was going to hurt someone, and then did, quickly.

That title tho, i'm crying lmao
On the real, yes you did get judged harshly Brie but as been said before the whole thing wasn't just because this incident. You had botches on a few straight weeks that kept getting worse and worse until that happened
Also the way this reads, it seems like it will play out on Total Divas which in itself has me doubting how over acting she will be

I’m sure she apologized a load of times, but it doesn’t really read like Liv accepted the apology.

I really want to see how Total Divas portrays this. It could go a few different ways.

Just reads weird like ohh I fell into a deep depression but you don't speak on how you reached out to Liv. I find this quote weird.
"I made a mistake and she's not badly injured and you know what, this is our business, this is what we all signed up for. Everyone's going to see backstage even how Liv and I were with each other. Out in the WWE ring, we have to play so much, bad guy, good guy, don't talk to your competitors, but backstage you'll see that we're all really close and it affects us. We never want to go out there and hurt each other, so when it happens it's emotional"
Makes it seem like Liv or the Riot Squad in general was pissed but eventually cooler heads prevailed

Or, as I said at the time, the actual discussions and apologies took place between Brie and Liv privately and were justifiably nothing to do with us. I know this isn't what you were saying in your reply here, but that was part of the hysteria at the time, people saying she should publicly apologise for injuring another wrestler... like she needs to apologise to us, for being a shitty wrestler, rather than to Liv, for injuring her...? Seriously though the thread title may be the best in forum history.

Seriously though the thread title may be the best in forum history. Yeah, I see what you’re saying. In the age of social media and PR, I suppose the majority would rather see a public apology than for them to do it in private. I only found the statement to be worded wrong as she didn’t really mention the usual “oh I apologized and we made up” stuff that usually comes out with these types of questions. I do agree that I think this should be resolved in a private setting.

Exactly. Im sure the two made up and apologized but the way she worded it made it seem like there was still a bit of tension. That line you posted was what got me a bit confused and weirded out
