Between the arrest for injuring the guy who tried to scam money out of her friends (iirc she amateur wrestling took him down over a bar), the time she legit hospitalised someone who tried to sexually assault her, that Lou Thesz once openly called her one of the most legit tough folk in wrestling (and he wasnt fond of womens wrestling) and that Bubba Ray believed her when she told him she'd kick his ass aged 80... Mae Young was definitely tough. That's not even factoring the bit where she no sold death one last time... You have that story very backwards. Mae and her friends were the criminals in the situation, luring men to their hotel room or the middle of nowhere, then beating and robbing them and, if it were the middle of nowhere, leaving them there. There's at least three separate instances of her taking part in this stuff.

That rookie is Vordel Walker. No idea if he has a MMA background, but he is legit tough. And his wife is just as tough. Walker killed the Rick Steiner myth that night. Steiner looked like a deer in the headlights when Walker took him down at will. Norman Smiley killed the Rick Steiner myth many years before that. Here's a quick artist's rendering of the incident:

Mae Young slapped Bubba Ray in the face when he was having misgivings about doing the powerbomb spot, apparently, for starters. Honestly, most any Joshi would be really low on the list of people I'd want to piss off. Mae didn't seem human. How can a senior possibly do that and not get injured??

Don’t know any real life fight stories but I have heard a lot of people say Jacqueline was the toughest women they knew. Not tough, she just took a lot of liberties and went out of her way to hurt rookies. Strangely enough, she was well behaved when she worked with Luna. I'm picking Miss Linda, Mick Foley said that she was as tough as Adrian Street, and he was a bad motherf***er. Their matches always seemed like stiff hard hitting brawls, yet from the shoot interviews, they were friends and got along outside the ring. There is also a shoot interview with Luna and Gangrel uploaded on youtube and she mentions Jacqueline clotheslined her hard and one time Luna had enough that she schooled jacqueline in the ring. The shoot mentions USWA. From what I read, apparently it was one of the matches on WWE metal between Jacqueline and Luna. If you search it, the whole match seems like a stiff affair between the two, especially with how jacqueline was pulling lunas hair and giving stiff kicks. Luna gets Jacqueline in an armbar and the ref counts 1-2-3. After the match they still brawl and Jacqueline knocks down this television guy. I was always a Jacqueline fan since she debuted in 98, but watching the shoot and then match it makes me wonder why no one else ever tried to stiff Jacqueline back like that. I get the impression even with Jacqueline's martial arts and kickboxing background, someone could catch her off guard like Luna did. I guess that could be why she seemed well behaved when she faced Luna, maybe she was afraid of getting schooled again. The Vengance match between Jacqueline and Trish also seemed like another instance of Jacqueline being unprofessional, especially after trish kicked her in the upper chest area.

I'll have to look more into this stuff before I can speak a more informed opinion on the matter. I will say this though - regardless of how she may have treated some of the other women, Jacqueline is legit tough. Won more than one fight with different guys backstage in USWA. Went through hell there, too, but that's not the point. I always took Jacqueline to work stiff but not maliciously so. More Vader than Steiner. But like him, wouldn't excuse her for not dialing it back for some that weren't able to keep up. She worked like that with Jazz too, and Jazz gave back every time.

Nattie Neidhart. She's obviously enough physically strong, but I have enormous respect for the shit she's been through. Her dad and uncle smoking crack together, one uncle dying, and other being through the shit Bret's been through, all of this very public. Combine that with all of the carny shit Bruce and Smith have pulled, being a child when Dean Hart died and sent the family into mourning, DH and Teddy being imbeciles sometimes and potentially endangering her career, and TJ/Tyson having his career ended so suddenly, all while Nattie has to work in the same company as the man who nearly crippled him. (Obviously by freak accident)
Despite all of this, I don't think I've ever seen her get bitter, or lash out at people. I've never heard word one of her big leaguing people, and in fact, tend to see women who have worked with her speak glowingly of her, in WWE and beforehand when she was an indie darling. She is pretty damn tough in my book.
I extend a lot of this to Tamina, too, who has had a rough life, but also the respect and affection of her peers. Obviously not the best wrestler, but if you asked me to wrestle while I was a single mom and my dad was facing murder charges, something you *know* he is almost certainly guilty of, and he abused my mom, I don't know if I could keep it together during all that, but she figured it out.

A newcomer but Lacey Evans is a former marine and served in the military polices version of a SWAT team. I wouldn't like to be the fella who cat calls her on a day when she's in a pissed off mood.

I'm basing this on nothing but appearance but Sherri Martel had the air of someone who would rip your face off if you crossed her. Bruce Prichard said she was considered one of the boys backstage and her being a tough woman was one of the reasons everyone respected her. She was also apparently crazy, in a good way.

I know Shawn has said she took care of him well when he first when solo and some gus worked stiff with him, she'd give them receipts.

For what it's worth, Awesome Kong came from the early 2000s All Japan Women's dojo and trained in MMA.
