I love that Bryan's heel persona is a better human being than most of their babyfaces. That's the best part about it. It's not the material that he's saying, but rather the way that he's saying it that makes you wanna hate him.

It's not the material that he's saying, but rather the way that he's saying it that makes you wanna hate him. Very reminiscent of CM Punk's Straight Edge Society. Punk encouraging people to live clean lives is an admirable cause... but beating people up and judging everyone as awful people because they don't adhere to his lifestyle is what makes him a heel.

The only thing worse than a sanctimonious blowhard, is a sanctimonious blowhard that also happens to be right.
It’s just like “Whatever, dude. Just let me eat my pig innards and watch dudes fake fight in peace.”

Vince being out there added nothing. More McMahons isn’t the answer.

Off topic, but we just had a segment with a former TNA champion, a former ROH Champion and Vince McMahon about the WWE Championship. Kind of surreal. That’s one of the weirdest things about WWE today. So much of their roster is the top end of RoH and Impact over the years. They have more former world champs employed from either of those companies than the actual companies do.

Vince is on Monday night heeling it up on the audience & is on Thursday demanding the heel get in the ring and being used as a helpless pawn for the heel to get the upper hand. All while dealing with a bunch of people who don’t need him to get their promos or matches over.

“You’re not wrong, Walter...er...Bryan; you’re just an asshole.”
How most wrestling baddies should be presented.

He turned it down, but that’s still crazy.

He challenged Chase Field to give 100% of the profits it'll make on those Rumble Burgers to a children's hospital. He may be acting like a dick, but he does shit like that while AJ punches the elderly, D-Bry is the hero of this story.

I didn't watch at the time but tuned in to see Bryan's promos afterwards because of the hype. Nah Bryan is definitely the heel of this story and not at all a "better person". It's very hard to discuss this without getting political (or overly personal) as he's such a political character, but even as someone sympathetic to a lot of his broader arguments his generational ranting cements him as a heel to me. Because for the most part it's fellow millenials, not baby boomers, that have very specifically & directly ruined my life and reduced me to a fearful, self-loathing mess of anxiety who has given up / lost interest in the only things I've ever wanted and generally doesn't feel any hope for anything anymore. And I don't care for generational warfare, or anti-milennial bashing, it serves nothing but hostility. I just..yeah. Bryan reminds me way, way too much of actual people.
Trouble is he's not a "boo, hiss, beat him up" heel to me. It's change the channel heat. Same as the Real Americans- I don't watch wrestling to be reminded of awful people & things I've dealt with in the real world, they sapped my enjoyment of the product and Cesaro is my favourite guy on the roster FFS. I don't watch wrestling for politics, and am sick to f***ing death of the politicisation of entertainment because it means I can never get a f***ing break from it. I watch wrestling to be entertained, not for this shit. So yeah, I guess I'm done watching the little of Smackdown I did bother to catch until this changes. Babyface Bryan was a character I really enjoyed watching. This, not so much. And God I hope AEW doesn't decide to go down the same route or there goes my alternative.

That's pretty much how I felt about Punk for pretty much his entire run.
