OK, we have our bad news currently being covered, can we please have some stories about celebrities behaving or being surprisingly decent to people? Weird Al? Tom Hanks? Somebody?
All I got is Richard Dawson. Famous on Family Feud for being the kissing bandit, something he started to calm a nervous elderly contestant down. Of course, every woman wanted a kiss after that and the producers told him to knock it off. He went public on the show saying he would stop it if the public agreed. The studio got avalanched by mail asking him to keep it up. Ironically, met his wife as a contestant, retired, started a family. When brought back for one last run, he publicly announced he would not be doing the kissing because he didn’t want his daughter seeing him kissing anyone who wasn’t their mother.
What ya got?

George Michael’s charity work. He was known for being charitable but when he died the stories came out about the millions he gave anonymously and it was staggering just how much he gave away. He over heard a Waitress crying about her student debts, he left her a £5000 tip. The Last Christmas royalties is one of my favourite stories. Last Christmas/Everything She Wants was released against the new Band Aid single (which George Michael sang on) but in order to make sure Band Aid didn’t lose any royalties, he donated all the proceeds from his record to Band Aid too. Which when you consider that double A side single is the biggest selling record in UK history that never topped the chart, that’s some serious money.

Can't post because of politics but the Patton Oswalt story that came out today was a breath of fresh air.

Every Holiday Season Ellen Degeneres gives deserving and needy people things they really need or want on her talk show and it's awesome.

Eddie Murphy helped Redd Foxx out after his troubles with the IRS, giving him a role in Harlem Nights and producing his TV series The Royal Family. When Foxx passed away suddenly while filming the show, Murphy paid for his funeral.

Every Christmas, Roger Myers Jr. goes down to the pound, rescues one cat and one mouse and gives them to a hungry family.

Here’s something good Mel Gibson did. (I know!). After Robert Downey Jr got clean and started trying to get acting jobs again a lot of studios were understandably concerned about his past and were trying to take out insurance to cover their arses in case he went back to his old ways. A lot of insurance companies wouldn’t touch him and so RDJ was in danger of missing out on work. He and Mel Gibson had been friends since working on Air America in the early 90s and Mel Gibson offered to cover the cost of insuring RDJ relapsing just so he wouldn’t miss out on parts.

David Arquette using his WCW earnings to support Droz, and Owen Hart and Brian Pillman's families. I can't dislike him because of this, despite disliking the Russo booking surrounding him.

Just today some guy trolled Patton Oswalt on Twitter, Patton looked at the guy's feed and saw dude was in pretty bad medical shape and had a GoFundMe. Patton donated and encouraged others to do so and raised over 20 k for the guy that trolled him in like an hour or two.

In the film version of Alice's Restaurant, Arlo Guthrie cast the real Officer Obie to play himself in the film, and he also cast the real blind judge to play himself in the trial scene. While working on the film Obie and Arlo wound up becoming good friends. Obie just turned to Arlo one morning and went "Guthrie!! Way I see it, anybody that can get up this early in the morning and shoot all these hours cant be too bad, I've changed my mind on all you hippies, you aint bad people at all"
When Obie passed away a few years back Arlo paied for his funeral and burial.

Adam Levine paid for Christina Grimmie's funeral at least that's what I heard.

Keanu Reeves has donated a lot to charity through out the years, but he’s done it secretly.

Tom Cruise ---- www.papermag.com/tom-cruise-saving-lives-2586031041.html---- Say what you will about Scientology's vice-like grip on Tom Cruise, but the Mission: Impossible actor has a long history of being a pretty stand-up guy — all 5 foot 7 inches, anyway. In August 1996, Cruise saved five people whose yacht caught fire, and he didn't even get wet. As an added bonus: he caught the risky business on tape. Cruise and his then-wife, the 5'11" Nicole Kidman, were sailing off of Italy's resort island of Capri. They had chartered a yacht, the Talitha G., and were gliding through Mediterranean waters with their two kids and a couple of studio heads when a nearby boat caught fire due to an electrical short circuit. Cruise went into crisis mode, using the expert skills he has honed over years performing his own stunts, and sent over his yacht's skiff to rescue those on board. Among the five were French paper tycoon, Jacques Lejeune, and his wife, Bernadette, floating in a rubber raft as the yacht blazed behind them. They climbed to safety, right before the 63-foot ship sank. That sentiment was echoed by another woman whose life Cruise saved. "If he's not Superman, he can be Batman — Batman doesn't have super powers," then 23-year-old Heloisa Vinhas told People. Cruise witnessed Vinhas get hit by an Acura Legend in March of '96 and told a nearby pedestrian to call an ambulance. The car sped away, but Cruise stood by, following her to the UCLA Medical Center. Vinhas was treated for a broken leg and bruised ribs — which totaled $7,000. Upon discovering Vinhas didn't have insurance, Cruise footed the bill. After all of his years putting himself in dangerous situations for our entertainment, doing the real thing, he has realized, feels just as good. ----

Which when you consider that double A side single is the biggest selling record in UK history that never topped the chart, that’s some serious money. Another one that emerged after his passing was that he was watching an episode of ‘Deal or No Deal’ - because even pop stars watch TV! - and a woman was playing to win the big prize (£250k, was it?) to help fund her IVF treatment amongst other things. She didn’t win, sadly, but George Michael phoned the producers and asked if he could donate the money to her. There’s also the gigs he did for NHS nurses who looked after his mum, matching his winnings on ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’, working in soup kitchens...despite his troubles in later life, there’s no denying his compassion and sheer human decency. An unexpected name on this list might be racing driver Michael Schumacher. One of his bodyguards was killed in the Thailand tsunami disaster, and he quietly donated £10m to the charity fund.

Another one about Tom Cruise I remember hearing is that he got pizzas or something for the crew of the movie he was shooting. He went to pick them up, and there was one of those jars to raise money for a local sick kid. Cruise put a couple thousand dollars in the jar.
I also heard Charlie Sheen basically tips everybody with hundred dollar bills. Either super nice or possibly wasted and thinks they're tens. Haha.

Mr Rogers always used to say "I'm feeding the fish" because a blind fan was worried they weren't been fed.
Not a particular instance, just in general, but David Beckham is just a genuinely nice, down to earth man. To say he's known around the world, one of the most famous athletes ever and a global icon he's extremely modest and can t do enough for his fans. A great guy.

Steve Buscemi www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/steve-buscemis-incredible-911-story-8818571On September 12, 2001 and for several days following Brother Steve worked 12-hour shifts alongside other firefighters digging and sifting through the rubble from the World Trade Center looking for survivors. "Very few photographs and no interviews exist because he declined them. He wasn't there for the publicity."

Not to sound like a smartass, but how did the fan even know he had fish? Anderson Cooper dragged a wounded kid out of the street during a firefight. Can't remember where, maybe Somalia. It's on film, he ran out during the report to help them. That's balls.
