From this week's WON
I'm assuming that AEW's situation also has something to do with it too but hey, more money to these guys.

Good. Get these boys and girls paid. Careers are short typically. Everyone wins here long term with all the competitive offers. Which hopefully also leads to trying to keep talent happy artistically so we can get an interesting product again.
Hope is in the air these days.

Interesting. I wonder what the bump would be over what they get now. Would it just be making more than their downside, equal to what they get now (downside +show bonuses and merch) or a bump in pay (with the potential for merch bonuses)?
And really, I am surprised it has taken this long to do something like this, the old way seems way more time consuming and like it'd cost more.

If this is true, there is no reason to believe they will start paying people more “just because”. That wording also sounds more like a way to give the wrestlers less negotiating room.

Sounds like it just means there won't be PPV payouts anymore. So no "Wrestlemania Payday" or anything like that.

One thing that has em wondering is how guaranteed this money is. Right now, that "low downside plus more from the dates you work" means people collect something when they end up sitting at home waiting out their contracts. It'd be curious if they changed thgings in a way that demands certain upkeep and "work a date within (X) period to continue receiving pay" that could stifle people trying to use "I'll just go ride the couch until my contract is up" when they're unhappy.
Still genuinely great that people are getting more money, but there's lots of sneaky room for shit to come from this.

If anyone gives AEW anything, it's getting these guys paid, and getting their pays raised higher other places almost by proxy of suddenly existing despite not even doing anything yet but promising really nice contracts and benefits for their workers.
I admire them for that, it's seemingly kicked WWE in the pants in SOME regard. Don't need to be direct competition, this is a good way to help wrestling for the better going forward. Good Wrestling. More Variety. More Pay and Benefits for them all. That's what we wanna see.
