So yeah, against my better judgment I’ve resubscribed to the WWE Network. I had a good two-year cleansing period of their garbage and the wheels are kinda falling off these days. My kids love Seth Rollins and I have zero of his matches on video so I this is how I can get them to see him. I want to watch NXT too.
The video library on the Canadian Network is still a very limited, very strange assortment of shows. Zero ECW. Maybe fifteen WCW pay per views. And a random assortment of WWE ones from 2000 and 2001, skipping to 2007 where there’s a random assortment.
Anyway.

WCW/Slim Jims “Bash at the Beach 1995”
July 12th, 1995
From the Beach in Huntington Beach, California
Commentators: Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan
Tonight: Randy Savage verses Ric Flair in a Lifeguard match and Hulk Hogan defends the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Vader in a Steel Cage.
Meng promo.
Sting cuts a promo with Mean Gene.
For the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship
Meng w/Col. Robert Parker vs. Sting
You know what made Meng even scarier in this match? He had glitter in his hair. This was okay but it had a few sluggish moments, mostly when Meng was in control. Meng should have won.
Winner: Sting
A furious Meng continues to attack Sting but Road Warrior Hawk comes to the rescue.
Mean Gene is backstage with Jimmy Hart and the Renegade. All I can say is “wow”.
For the WCW World Television Championship
Paul Orndorff vs. Renegade (champion) w/Jimmy Hart
Believe it or not this was the first time I ever witnessed the Renegade. He was terrible and this match was horrid.
Winner: Renegade
Orndorff angrily attacks Renegade (his shoulders were clearly up during the pinfall) and gets a huge pop from the crowd...despite being the heel.
Recap of Kamala joining the Dungeon of Doom.
Mean Gene is backstage with a coked out Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Best part? DUGGAN EXITS THE WRONG SIDE THEN STAGGERS BY IN THE BACKGROUND ON HIS WAY TO RIGHT SIDE TOWARDS THE RING.
Kamala w/the Taskmaster vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan
This was abysmal. I can’t recall ever seeing Kamala win a match.
Winner: Kamala
Mean Gene is with Randy Savage. SLIM JIMS BASH AT THE BEACH!!!!!
Diamond Dallas Page w/Max Muscle and the Diamond Doll vs. Dave Sullivan w/Ralph the Rabbit
There was garbage or something being thrown around by the crowd and that got them excited. The match was at least better than the last two.
Winner: Diamond Dallas Page
Mean Gene is with Harlem Heat and Sheri Martel.
For the WCW World Tag Team Championships
The Blue Bloods vs. The Nasty Boys vs. Harlem Heat (champions) w/Sheri Martel
This was a five-star classic considering this show so far.
Winners: Harlem Heat
Mean Gene is with a very excited Harlem Heat and Sheri Martel. They are willing to face anyone.
Mean Gene is with Ric Flair.
Lifeguard Match (basically a Lumberjack Match, but on a beach)
Ric Flair vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage
This really wasn’t too bad.
Winner: “Macho Man” Randy Savage
Recap of the Roadkill tour, which led Vader to his championship opportunity tonight.
WCW Collision in Korea promo.
Mean Gene is with Hulk Hogan, Dennis Rodman and Jimmy Hart.
Steel Cage Match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship
Vader vs. Hulk Hogan (champion) w/Jimmy Hart and Dennis Rodman
This was good. I’ve seen Hogan in a few Steel Cage matches and I’ve always enjoyed them. His steel cage match against King Kong Bundy at Wrestlemania 2 is the only reason to watch that show. Back to this match; Zodiac made his second run-in of the night.
Winner: Hulk Hogan
Ric Flair runs down to the ring and is livid at Vader for losing. He spits on Vader and is about to get a Vaderbomb until Arn Anderson comes to the rescue. Vader challengers them to a handicapped match.
Schiavone and Heenan thank the crowd for watching and the credits role.

The second half of this show was at least decent. Flair and Savage had better matches (I recently saw the one from the Great American Bash a month earlier and that was really good) but the one at this show was decent. And the main event was good. But the rest of this show sucked. It’s only real redeeming qualities were giving me a glimpse of the Renegade and the Dungeon of Doom, Wrestlecrap I read about almost twenty years ago but never saw until now.
According to Tony Schiavone there were “hundreds of thousands” watching this event live on the beach. According to Wikipedia there were nine thousand five hundred. Neither are too reputable so I’d say the number was closer to the middle.
The Slim Jims schilling tonight was almost as bad as bad as the WWE gets these days.
This guy deserves to be seen:
