How come this isn't discussed more? Fire up the Network and revisit it, he's the first guy eliminated and it looks for a split second like he killed himself trying to fall out of the ring, then once free just falls from a gentle touch. Anyone else revisit it and get caught totally off guard? EDIT: Here's a GIF ![](https://preview.redd.it/wzetrxql5y5z.gif?width=554&s=81841f4224e24755f2b5b155f87867354d1947a7)

Is this when he hangmans himself between the ropes?

Oh, god.
If those were cables, he'd be f***ing dead, or minus an ear, Foley-style.
I wonder if the Steiners were stunned and just trying to not show it or what, because they look like they don't quite know what to do.

Was that an accident? It seems like something he might do as a spot.

I assume he was just meant to fly straight out.
I didn't give it much thought at the time but looking at it now..Yeah that is pretty damn scary.
Shades of the move that cost Foley his ear.
Luckily this one didn't come to that.

There's another WWF Steiner/Samoan match where it looks like Scott is trying to drop a running Samoans across the top rope and overshoots, propelling the guy headfirst out of the ring and into the baracade.

I think that was a spot he did, I think he did that in another match also with the Quebecers for the tag belts, not 100% sure.
I know Don Muraco did that spot also from time to time when he was a heel.

God, so much of that could have gone wrong. The speed he's moving at, the fact he doesn't really catch himself on the apron and legit hangs himself, could have easily broken his own neck. Then you've got his bare feet clattering against the apron which could have been a broken foot or ankle.

Samu runs a wrestling school in Pennsylvania, the one his father originally ran and then moved to Florida to start one. I've always been a huge Samoan fan from their gimmick in wrestling to their family bond in real life.
Samu, IMO, is very underrated and underappreciated in wrestling because, for whatever reason, he left the big stage over 20 years ago. He does the occasional Samoan family reunions at autograph signings and I met him at a random indy show in West Virginia a few years ago but I never see or hear too much about him. His wrestling school is near Bud Carson's former Pro Wrestling World memorabilia store and but as far as I know he's never done a show (maybe one) with Bud though he did bring in Scott Hall from the airport to make his autograph signing at the show. Both Samu and Bud are good guys so perhaps the timing with Samu's school has always gotten in the way.
Maybe someone in his area or even on Samu's facebook page should ask him about this show.

This used to be a relatively common spot, especially in big matches. It kinda faded away because, as cool as it looks, it's legit dangerous and almost always leads to cuts under the ears and a nasty rope-burn up the neck. I'm actually fairly certain it's on the banned moves list, it's just kind of a low key one.

That was a standard Samu spot that he did frequently. Went 100% to plan.

Glad to know it was a regular spot and not something going wrong. I guess it threw me off as:
1) his body goes completely limp before flailing
2) Steiners briefly look lost after it happens
3) Samu is super unceremonious gently pushed with the velveteen touch of a dandy flop by Scott Steiner immediately after he's untangled.

Was that an accident? It seems like something he might do as a spot. He'd done that spot a bit in that Headshrinkers run, so it was no accident. I wanna say I first saw it on an early Raw from 1993 in a match with the Undertaker.
