His current WWE status: "For now I am on a hiatus with WWE. It took me like 10 years to get a weekend off and this is it. So we'll see where it goes from here. Like I said we have a handshake agreement which is different from what's on paper. I've given everything and we'll see if there is more for me to give, I'll be happy to be a part of it."
Reports on WWE wanting to keep him on as a backstage producer: "If WWE wanted to keep me around it would be to be in the ring. For now. Producing I could see happening 10 years down the line but I don't know why I wouldn't be doing some other stuff first. It's a great thing and there are a lot of people who are good at teaching and giving back and I love pulling people aside or if they come up to me at work. Doing that full time and basically being in the best shape of my life, I wouldn't be able to do it knowing that I could be like no let me just do this for you. One day down the line that could be something but I'm very much not interested in that."
Thoughts on possibly signing with AEW: "I wouldn't say I would be the next big signing, I'd say I would be the big signing I would have to say. But I have some other things going on at the moment but that should always be an option for anybody especially someone like me who has been around for a long time and as Drew McIntyre says, maybe I was riding his coattails and I gotta get the hell out of here. So you never know. I think it would be great, I think it would be a great addition to that company which seems to be for true wrestlers who love the sport and the business. It's a great idea."

Ziggler working on a “handshake agreement”. Time is indeed a flat circle.

I can’t be alone in thinking that this dude’s career would have gone a lot better if his name wasn’t *Dolph Ziggler*.
That’s the kind of stupid name that usually lasts a few months until the guy wearing it proves himself gets something less terrible.
Dolph. Ziggler. SMH

I remember when he, a former caddy and male cheerleader, undersized, got repackaged with a handshake gimmick with spaghetti hair and a terrible name... and then got suspended for drugs before he even debuted. I think it's a miracle he got as far as he did.

I think he was named with the intention of being a mildly comedic lower midcard guy and didn't realise he was actually pretty good and could reach higher. The main thing that screwed him was the concussion after winning the world title.

SMH The thing is, it wouldn't even be that bad if they'd just spelled it "Ziegler", as that's a fairly normal last name that I've seen plenty of actual people have. But no, they had to do the Boogie Nights ripoff.

I know wrestlers like to talk themselves up. But didn’t he take time off after vacating the US title last year?

I'm surprised they never renamed him, like they did with John Morrison from Johnny Nitro when they wanted to make him a higher level competitor.

Didn’t he sign a 3 year deal last year?
I’ll believe it when I see it of him not being in the rumble.
Please go away dolph

Yea, I was about to say usually guys are right when they don't get time off but I could have sworn Dolph has taken some breaks over the last 2 years including leaving for like 2 weeks after he dropped the US title

Like AJ's testicles after all the nutshots he got in 2018 As for Dolph, oh god, he's winning the Rumble isn't he?

I forgot it's the Rumble today. Gotta avoid spoilers and catch it at work. Even not watching wrestling now, I still enjoy the Rumble.

So at this point, Ziggler is at Jericho levels of lying to build up his own hype.
Only no one is hyped when he returns and he spectacularly lacks the ability to reinvent his character.
