Owens, Balor, Zayn, Neville, and Itami Vs. Gargano, Ciampa, Black, Dream, and Ricochet.
Which do you think are a better quintet of performers? Both sets have put on a number of classics throughout their time in NXT but who's been better?
Discuss!

Thats actually a really hard question.
Itami kinda drags it down(if we are just counting what he had done IN NXT,i know he is an amazing performer). Both groups are top notch talents.

Tyler Breeze was the default sixth man. So add him with Adam Cole.

I have to give it to the new Gen. Finn's run at the top of NXT was weak and he was usually the "meh" ending to what was usually a good NXT Takeover event.

Just looking at the lineups for each reminds me how lucky we are to have NXT.

For me, Black and Itami kind of cancel eachother out (he just hasn't clicked with me, nothing against him mind you). Even doing that, this is like a freaking Sophie's Choice of a question when you look at it. I'd have to say that personally I like the current NXT 5 over the Original simply because I had limited exposure to the current guys (minus Ricochet), whereas everyone in the Original 5 were known commodities for quite a few years leading up to their runs in NXT. Either way, if NXT's output is any sign with how things will become on the main card once the old guard finally abdicates, WWE could seriously make a huge turnaround when it comes to product quality.

Current.
Got to say that classic 5 seem like different eras of nxt even if there's some overlap.
Zayn and Neville Vs DIY would be a more difficult question to me.

The current are younger. Easy question.

Originals for me. I don't care for the new class outside of Dream.

The 5 now have insane chemistry together. The NXT main event has been amazing for over 12 months.

This really is a hard question. I think in terms of in ring action and what their matches are like, I'd go with the current NXT 5. But in terms of the stories and angles, I give that to the original NXT 5. Neville's reign as champion and tease of turning heel was very well done. Zayn's raw desire to finally become a champion and flirting with giving in to the darkness in that match with Neville is some of the best things NXT has ever done. Go from that to Owens storming through NXT and destroying his best friend to win the title 2 months later. That is 3 things right there that all bled into each other. Of the current 5, the only stry that matches that, and it does a great job, is Gargano vs Ciampa and even that has had some hiccups.
Both are great, but at different things.

The current group seems so much more cohesive. I think they've really benefited from being able to come in a little more low key especially in Dream, Gargano, and Ciampa's case. It feels more like they're NXT vs. a big name Indy star in NXT biding their time for the main roster. Gargano/Ciampa is just one of the best stories WWE has done in years across all brands. The build being entirely within NXT vs. Zayn/Owens feeling like they started the story in the middle of the book.

Classic.
Current NXT is shite in comparison to 2015/16.

Gotta go with the new set.
Sami and Neville put on amazing matches for sure... but other than that... eh. Finn is my dude and always will be my dude, but if anything, he drags it down for me, along with, of course, Hideo, since he didn't end up doing much in NXT. I don't have too many memorable Owens moments in NXT, aside from his first night squash against CJP then turning on Sami, inexplicably gaining Bork powers in his title match with Sami, kicking Alex Riley, and losing the title to Finn in Japan.
Would much rather watch the character work of Dream and Ciampa and the athleticism of Black, Gargano, and Ricochet.

Tough question but I'll go with the current crop. That Velveteen Dream guy is something else.
