Like, every time I see the Miz and Shane I just don't buy it. It looks like one of those moments where two guys are standing and then one turns on the other by nailing him with a clothesline or something. It just seems so.. hokey. Miz as some perma grinning "We're in Hometown" naming face just seems so weird and artificial. When they won the title I genuinely thought they were going to do a Dean/Seth and have Miz turn on Shane immediately after winning the titles. Hell, I expected the Miz to lay out his Dad this week on Smackdown.
Anyone else just waiting for this bubble to burst?

Yeah, I'm with you. I just don't buy Miz as a face at all and it feels really obvious it's headed this way. And Shane just always comes across as such a smug douche himself it makes me root for it to happen even more lol.

I thought Miz sounded really sincere in all the promos leading up to the title match and the video package on Smackdown was a nice touch but as much as I want to see Miz have another face run the dude is so perma-heel in my mind that it really does feel like he's just going to betray Shane at any time.

Miz isn't really a face.
Miz is just an opportunist and he'll quit playing nice and turn on Shane as soon as he get bored with it.

I can't believe there's a fan out there that doesn't feel this is a long-term ruse by Miz. If they want people invested in Miz as a face (assuming this is a full face turn) then I think they'll need to have Shane turn on him. Which could be the plan, since the booking points to a Wrestlemania march between the two.

I’m waiting for Miz to go back to Raw for his reality show. I really think that’s where this is going. He’s not on Smackdown for long.

Pretty much. Shane is now a sentimental goober and the turn will be glorious. I hope we get a father/son tag match with Mr. Miz & Septuagenarian Vince involved.

One of them is turning at least.
The thing I find more baffling is how strong Shane is being booked. I thought this whole thing was a joke angle and then he became the f***ing hot tag guy.

Honestly if the Miz turned on Shane, would the Miz really get booed? It seems like they are overbooking Shane where fans wouldn't be cheering him. I personally can't stand Shane with how he is booked now.

Shane being booked absurdly strong has been a thing for a while now. Like being able to beat up Legacy by himself when they were basically unstoppable, looking credible against Kurt Angle at his best, having competitive matches with Taker and AJ at Mania, being the last guy to survive on Smackdown two years in a row...

I don't know if it was just that I was younger and markier, but I found all of those less egregious than this, even the Legacy one. Maybe it's because he usually relies on big spots, plunder and not staying down, which was just enough for me to lose myself in the story. But like... They are actually treating him like the best wrestler in the world, now, not just the pluckiest guy who jumps off things.

swerve! they both turn but they realize that they are still both the same alignment after doing so they continue to team up as heels.

I kept expecting Shane to attack Miz during the segment on SD.

Miz has to turn heel on this just from the narrative alone.
The whole "my father never said he was proud of me"even after he won the WWE Championship and Main Evented WM....he teams with f***ing Shane to win the random ass SD TT Championships and NOW he's proud of him.
This just sounds like evil Miz playing to Shane's already excessive D-bag ego and f***ing around with him.
This HAS to lead to a promo from Miz going "did you really think my father wasn't proud of me?! I MAIN EVENTED WRESTLEMANIA!"
And as someone that loathes super shane and voted him my least favorite last year, he can go away. He's not the face either, so it's weird.

swerve! they both turn but they realize that they are still both the same alignment after doing so they continue to team up as heels. Honestly, that'd be an amazing direction to go in here. Two heels who are blatantly telegraphing to the audience that they intend to turn heel on the other but who are so caught up in their own scheming they don't notice the other. Lots of "readying up a chair shot behind their back" spots that end up getting caught and turned into "Oh I just wanted to give you something to sit on, you look like you could use a break", threatening them with a beer bottle and covering it up with "Let's have a drink to celebrate", stuff like that. Then when they finally get their big betrayal moment, they realize what the other is up to, have a moment, and just turn heel together as real best buds this time instead of fake ones. It would be amazing

This makes me want someone to do the Luger/Sting angle, where Luger would break rules behind Sting's back, only this version has one guy hiding his cheating, only to turn around and see his partner punching their opponent in the dick. "Oh, you're cool with this, awesome"

Miz will turn, but I was rooting for Shane to be the one to go heel on Smackdown. I said it in the live thread, but it would've have been great if Mr. Miz had done the, "Mike, I love you and I'm proud of you" line, hugged Miz, then shook Shane's hand, but the mic caught him saying, "Where's my money, Shane." Miz gets this look on his face, like he's been punched in the gut, but before he can really react, Shane decks him, then lays out Mr. Miz.
Yeah, it makes no sense for Shane to be the heel with the way everything built up, but it would be way more interesting than plucky underdog Shane vs. arrogant asshole heel round 1,038,450.
