WWE Superstars Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson have been busy of late on the business front, applying for several professional wrestling trademarks. The time of this flurry of activity is interesting, given that the WWE contracts of Gallows and Anderson are set to expire in 2019. As previously noted, Karl Anderson, through his business entity MG Karl Anderson, LLC, applied to trademark his ring name, 'Karl Anderson', on January 18, 2019; however, as of January 22, 2019, WWE's lapsed application for the trademark has been revived. In WWE's Petition To Revive The Abandoned Application, the promotion acknowledged that its failure to respond by the specified deadline was unintentional. Of note, WWE successfully registered "Luke Gallows" with the United States Patent And Trademark Office back in March 2017, which explains why WWE does not have to undertake the same process for Gallows of reviving an application for an abandoned trademark. With that said, Gallows, through his business entity, Wrestlemerica, LLC, applied to trademark 'Doc Gallows' on January 19, 2019. In addition to applying for 'Karl Anderson', he applied for his other nickname, 'Machine Gun', on January 20, 2019. Also previously noted, WWE applied to trademark "Botch Club With Gallows And Anderson" back in December 2018, though the future of that program is now in doubt. On a related note, on January 21, 2019, the business entities of Gallows and Anderson teamed up to apply for the "Talk'n Shop" trademark. Also on January 21, 2019, Wrestlemerica, LLC applied for 'Good Brother' and its plural form, 'Good Brothers', as well as 'Big LG'. On January 24, 2019, Wrestlemerica, LLC applied for the trademark of 'Biz Cliz'. www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2019/01/a-look-at-the-interesting-recent-trademark-filings-of-luke-650451/

What I wouldn't give to be running the dirtsheets in a time when anything at all can be considered news and fuel valid enough speculation to run with stories about trademarks.

Unfortunately, Brazzers beat Karl Anderson to the hot asian wives trademark.

I was about to say 'how many letter r's did Luke Gallows have to put in the word "nerd" so that he could trademark "NERRRRRD"?'.

Wouldn't be surprised to see them bounce. I don't recall Karl doing much outside of NJPW so he could be home more with his family. I think he has a newborn as of a few months ago.

These guys are flops in WWE.
While they are definitely underused, I just don’t see anything particularly special in them. They have no gimmicks and they’re not good enough in ring to “not have a gimmick” like say... The Revival or American Alpha.

Gallows, not so much.

WWE's legal team's working overtime snagging all these copyrights and trademarks on these talents the company is trying to keep. That may be a sticking point in future contract negotiations.

I was pretty hyped up for them to come in because (A) Japan/Bullet Club is/was “cool” in general and (B) Anderson apparently had some good singles matches but... meh. They do nothing for me. Not even their in-jokes/memes I see parroted on Wreddit from both before and during WWE like hootski, Sex/Tex Ferguson, Bud Light Limes, and Prince Devitt’s large weiner. It’s just.. sophomoric. Their humor is some direct-to-DVD American Pie spinoff shit.

Gallows, not so much. Anderson was successful in New Japan and leader of the Bullet Club for a period of time. He had some good singles matches in the company and was pretty good on the stick. But I am sure wherever he goes, he's taking Gallows with him. Maybe they go back to New Japan, ROH or AEW. Their options are pretty wide open. They were flops in WWE because Vince doesn't know how to book tag teams and over scripts promos. Just look at their work on Southpaw Regional Wrestling, it was gold.

I've never seen anything in Anderson, dating back to his PWG days, but Gallows is a great, underrated big man when he's given an opportunity to go of the leash.

I mean in all fairness, it's not really on them that they haven't been given a gimmick. They haven't worked out in WWE very well but they definitely have a place and can bring something to the table. It's just that nobody really tried.

What I wouldn't give to be running the dirtsheets in a time when anything at all can be considered news and fuel valid enough speculation to run with stories about trademarks. Why? Just start a Twitter and start doing it like 90% of the other "news sites". You don't even need facts, you can just make shit up.

They would be perfect as part of a faction, but I understand Vince seems to not be a fan of factions anymore.

This has been going on with the IWC since I was aware of it in the mid 90s. The only difference is there are more platforms to do it on.

I would, but I got banned from twitter for my art project Photoshopping supermodels onto pictures of classical tyrants. Not only did twitter not want Sic Semper Tyra Banks on its platform, but they made it very clear I'm not allowed to come back ever again. Excuse me for thinking that people would find two guys who’s contracts are up in three months are trying to trademark their shit interesting Admittedly reading back on my post the tone is a bit unclear so lemme clarify; this is genuinely interesting as shit, I just can't believe we're at a point where everyone is scumming trademark applications looking for scoops, and scoops are actually there.

The fact that WWE has never really allowed Gallows to cut loose on the mic is criminal. I don’t think they ever really recovered when they went out & did a New Japan match with the Usos in their debut. They could (and probably will) be a great tag team in the right circumstances.

I always like their shoot interviews and stuff like south paw, but it feels like they are never allowed to show that personality on regular tv

In fairness, we often discuss banning you from Yahtzee Thursdays because of your resting Dixie Carter face, so it's not the first time you've been banned from something.
