ROUND ONE:
1919-1922-----Nosferatu 1923-1926-----The Phantom of the Opera 1927-1929-----The Man Who Laughs
1930-1932-----Frankenstein 1933-1934-----King Kong 1935-1936-----The Bride of Frankenstein 1937-1939-----Son of Frankenstein
1940-1941-----The Wolf Man 1942-1943-----Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man 1944-1945-----The Monster Maker 1946-1949-----House of Horrors/Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein (tie)
1950-1954-----Creature From the Black Lagoon 1955-1956-----Invasion of the Body Snatchers/Night of the Hunter (tie)
We get our first single year poll with this one, and it's for an important year, as there was a drastic increase of horror content in 1957, most likely due to the rise of the drive in theater. Regardless, as always, vote for your favorite, and, as always, explain your choice (if you like), as well as mention any other movies you might have seen on this list, below.
We will also accept Write in Votes (although, please mention it as such) for movies not included on the list I'm getting the choices off of. However, I will not remove any from the list (I can't by that point), so, if you want to make your case why a certain movie isn't a horror film, make it. Hell, you might end up swaying a few voters from going in that direction, but I can't/won't remove it from the list or DQ it.

A lot of stuff on this list that's fun in an MST sorta way. But I ultimately went with CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN. When you're used to seeing Peter Cushing play noble heroes or sweet old Mr. Grimsdyke in the Amicus TALES FROM THE CRYPT anthology, it's a pleasant surprise to see him play a total bastard for once.

Deadly Mantis for me so much fun. The hammer Frankenstein is nice but not my favourite. Night of the Demon is also good. Attack of the crab monsters is amusing but really not that good The Monster that Challenged the World is also surprisingly good.

So, it looks like The Curse of Frankenstein (which got my vote) has got this one in the bag, which isn't surprising, as it's the first Major hit for Hammer Studios. It wouldn't be the last, though, as Hammer would end up remaining a presence until the late 70's. In the next year we'll see Hammer take on another iconic character, which I'm sure will kick ass on this poll as well. I do want to mention Night of the Demon as well, as it is a very good, very atmospheric film with a memorable looking monster. Speaking of monsters, I will briefly mention the glut of monster/giant bug movies on this list. We'll get more of that over the next few years, but we'll see this trend kind of die out as we move into the 1960's. I will also mention The Vampire, which is interesting mainly due to the fact that the titular character becomes a vampire through a blood transfusion. Kinda different....movie is just OK, but kind of a cool concept for a vampire film. All right, on to 1958.
