en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ROH_World_ChampionsCurrently in his second trip with that championship title belt, he's now held it for more combined days than any Ring Of Honor wrestler ever, just today surpassing the mark set by Samoa Joe's lone reign. I've always thought he was talented. I liked his Black Machismo gimmick, but I knew he could achieve bigger. Good for him.

Good for him. I like Lethal, think he’s damn talented and deserves the accolade.
That being said, they desperately need to get the belt off him. It really feels like the belt hasn’t meant shit since Cody had it. That’s no indictment of Jay or Dalton, it’s entirely on the booking but that belt doesn’t feel anywhere near as important as it should

Out of everyone in the company, currently, Jay Lethal is the most accomplished, with Jay Briscoe being the next. He is a great worker, who doesn't get enough credit in my opinion.
I agree that the ROH title has been tainted, not by having "bad" champions, but by not having credible contenders. When ROH focused heavily on using NJPW talent as special attractions, I noticed not many of their top acts fought for the belt, especially within the past year. Combine that with Iishi burying the TV title, and ROH, and their belts, look beneath some of the best wrestlers in the world.
ROH has always been a place for talented workers go to get exposure, but not many have been pedigreed as top guys. Taven and Young are underrated talents, and great heels, whom should be fighting tooth and nail against Lethal, like the days of Joe v. Homicide or Joe v. Punk. The talent has always been there, but the severe lack of rivalries and title programs needs to be addressed going into the new phase in ROH.

Lethal as a wrestler I'd definely very good but he's not a guy you build a company on. They have the talent on the roster but seem unsure how to book title feuds. I mean the TV title just had a 4an tournament including Facade....i don't think he's won a TV match!

There's definitely worse guys than Lethal they could put the belt on.
His first reign was pretty solid and he did feel like a top guy to me...he was built up pretty well with the long TV title reign. Then he just lost the belt kind of unceremoniously to Cole and seemed to fall off the face of the earth.
When he came back, it seemed like he won the belt out of the blue, then the whole Taeylerr Hendryyxxcks accusation came out (whatever became of that, BTW?) and it's like he's never really got any steam as champion.
I liked his first reign but his second reign has felt like a placeholder to me.

And like a third to half of these days as champion have been remotely interesting. That's more than Briscoe managed, so, score.

I like Lethal, I definitely think he deserves to be a top guy and World Champion. But him reaching this milestone really feels more like a reflection of how thin the ROH roster has gotten over the last year or two then a sign of Lethal's greatness.

Yeah ROH and it’s title always felt the future of wrestling now it feels like guys WWE passed on.
Maybe it’s time to merge the TV and World titles?

I just realized he's also the all time mark for days as ROH TV champion as well with 567 days.
Taven is just behind him at 287.

Jay Lethal is a guy who I kind of theoretically understand the appeal of but by and large have always found profoundly uninteresting. It kind of says it all that the closest he's really ever been to consistently entertaining for me was as a Macho Man ripoff.

I dunno, I don't think the issue is that the TV title exists, it's more just that there is a lack of upward mobility for guys. Though, if this meant Jeff Cobb beating him for the title to unify them, I might be able to get behind that.

Lethal lost the juice when he cut his hair Honestly I think it was that for me. The face turn was rough but okay, the head shaving angle was garbage and exposed him as a horrible face. This very well could be an ROH issue though since they book their top faces to be these ultra serious people and frankly Lethal sucks at that. He's a great character guy and can wrestle, they're just betraying him with this run.

It just seems like he did it all as a big time heel and it was such a great run that you can't really duplicate it. He was legit one of the best in the world but once he got his head shaved and turned face it just wasn't the same. He should be more so a guy working with a character instead of being himself and I think it's a look thing for me as well as he just don't have the same swag bald headed

Jay Briscoe should have a lengthy run as champion.

Jay Briscoe should have a lengthy run as champion. I really hope not. Like, even outside of that I just plain don't like him, I feel like they really could use a champion who hasn't had the belt yet. I miss that ROH used to only rarely have repeat champs.
