Former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington isn't planning on sitting on the sidelines in silence while the UFC goes about regular business. Covington, who was stripped of his title, recently spoke out against the MMA promotion during an interview on MMAjunkie Radio. Covington has not fought for almost eight months now since claiming the interim belt over Rafael dos Anjos. He was scheduled to meet champion Tyron Woodley to unify the belts, but the two could never agree on a date. Now, Woodley will defend his title against Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 later this year, and UFC president Dana White has since stated Covington "is going to have to fight again and earn the spot back." "We may have to go to court," Covington said (thanks to MMAjunkie for the quotes). "This may be a lawsuit. If the UFC wants to be a circus and be a corrupt business and go about their business, then that's their problem. I'm standing up for what I believe in. I'm not backing down." Covington has been very vocal towards White, referring to him in the interview as "Uncle Fester," adding "I'm the No. 1 ranked fighter in the world. I had a belt wrapped around my waist. I was the only fighter to go to the White House." The 30-year-old Covington has won six consecutive fights including decisions over dos Anjos, Demian Maia and Dong Hyun Kim. He is 14-1 overall and 9-1 in his UFC career that began in 2014 with a first round TKO victory over Anying Wang. As for taking another fight that isn't for the title, Covington says "that ain't happening." "I'll sit on the shelf all day," he added. "We'll go to court. I'll make it a living hell for the UFC. They're already trying to make my life a living hell. The business they're trying to do right now is ridiculous. yes... because that's what badasses do. Covington is such a poser. Are you suggesting he challenge Dana to a fist fight or something? He doesn't have a lot of recourse from the sounds of things. Don't know enough about this particular situation to know if I have any sympathy for Colby, but I am not going to lose sleep over someone taking UFC to court since, well, it's UFC. They're pretty damn shady. |

Fabricio Werdum smacked him with a boomerang for saying racist stuff about Brazil and Covington pressed charges. |

What’s he gonna sue them for? The judge will laugh at his face. This is like when a judge ordered tna to never waste anyone’s time by suing Scott Steiner again.

Unless its written in the contract that they have to get a title shot if they win the Interim Title then theres nothing he can sue them for.
Interim titles mean nothing and it sucks but he should of known that from the start, hell Tony Ferguson also got stripped of his Interim Title without getting a Title shot (Technically as the fight with Khabib never actually happened) but i didnt see him complaining that much, he just recovered from his injury and had a war with Anthony Pettis.

He was the interim welterweight champion then thought he was hot shit because Dana White got him into the White House, only problem is that when Dana gets tired of waiting for you to return, he’ll f*** you over. Well that’s exactly what happened, Covington got injured and asked for time off, Dana proceeded to strip him of the belt. This is on Covington for actually believing anything that comes out of Dana White’s mouth. Then while Covington was out, Dana found a new shiny toy in Kamaru Usman and Dana completely forgot about ol Colby. |

Colby is an asshole and he would have a point if he didn’t turn down his last shot. Dana didn’t bypass you, you and Woodley couldn’t agree on a date so you are f***ed. Tyron is the champ, not you

Covington is too bad trying to get his Fake Conor gimmick over to actually fight Woodley. So, instead of actually fighting to prove he is as good as he says, he decides to talk sh*t and sue. Sorry.... he's a poser. Good skill, but cares more about his image. |
