Sure, losing to EC3 could be a point of no return for that theory though yeah, I've been thinking this could be an elaborate work, but being fodder for EC3 kind of killed that. I still think it's possible, but unlikely at this point.

I doubt that he'll be going to AEW. I think he is just burned out. IIRC there is plenty reports explaining especially that he is NOT burned out of wrestling and just wants creative freedom Dean being some dirtbag they just find somewhere on BTE would be GOLD!

Have they ever worked their corporate release statements like that? I could be wrong (and probably am) but I don't remember them actually acknowledging someone has decided not to resign after their contract ends..... they just do the "future endeavors" after it ends, I think.

That’s because not many performers choose not to re-sign, they usually let them go. When Christian chose not to re-sign and go to TNA, it was similar. The headlines even read “Christian quits WWE” just to bury him on the way out.

I don’t think it’s likely that it’s all a planned storyline, but I ado Think that WWE’s going to be trying to change his mind until April and there’s a chance he winds up resigning with WWE before all’s said and done. I think that’s part of why they’re still treating his accomplishments with so much respect and being deferential to him rather than an outright burial.
If he winds up signing with AEW, I think we’ll know pretty quickly because he’ll either get absolutely trashed on air or they’ll just cease acknowledging him completely.

I honestly hope not, because if the reports are to be believed, I'd be more disappointed in Dean for not turning down a seven figure deal because he's burned out and he wants to do something different, all so they can work the dirtsheets for no discernable reason. I'd probably lose all respect for him if he was willing to go along with this. But I think this is more of a case of WWE trying to make something out of the situation rather than shifting Dean to a JTTS position or down to Superstars or something, or just having him off TV for good until his contract runs out. They seem to still really appreciate Dean (if not enough to give him a better direction than what he had before he decided to leave), so I doubt we'd see things get toxic.

Far fetched thought but here goes -
Could be an elaborate storyline for Roman's return?
Roman beats cancer AND convinced his buddy to stick around, y'all!

If it's a work to the extent that fans are made to feel ashamed for believing it, the damage it could do to WWE and to Jonathan Good professionally could be irreparable (I know, I know - but World Class pulled some of the same stuff and it ended up killing that promotion.)
