I would laugh and laugh and laugh if after all the “We’re progressive thinkers and stand up for the oppressed” talk Cody and The Bucks did that their big signings for AEW are Orton, Taker and AJ Styles.

How many non-"woke" signings could they really get away with before the fans start to call them out on it?

Imagine Taker driving into AEW with his motorcycle ABA look, around the Ring and then directly out of the Arena. And now tell me why this wouldnt be awesome because this is something that the Bucks would do. Only if he shouts "NEW SCHOOL!" before he leaves.

I wonder what kind of bookings he's taking. Would he be up for matches, or is it just public speaking and appearances?
All I want to know is can I book the Undertaker to be the special guest at my support group for people who have buried others alive in concrete or not. I feel like he'd have some real insight into that.

I assume this mostly meant his twitter account. And while there aren’t any WWE references there now (snapshot from Wayback machine is from January 29, 2019 and is the same as currently) I don’t see any older snapshots to indicate what it may have read before. Most usually have something about being WWE Superstar XXX tho, but maybe Taker never had anything and someone JUST noticed.

I would laugh and laugh and laugh if after all the “We’re progressive thinkers and stand up for the oppressed” talk Cody and The Bucks did that their big signings for AEW are Orton, Taker and AJ Styles. Has this been much of AEW's narrative, though? Yes, I can definitely see FANS on the progressive end of the spectrum supporting AEW just because they don't like what WWE represents, or pushing for more of that narrative in AEW, but from what I've seen the Bucks & Cody are mostly just like "We want a good women's roster that are fairly paid, general good treament/wellbeing for the roster, and fresh faces bringing their own creative input to the show." I could easily be wrong and AEW could end up becoming politicised like damn near all entertainment seems to be these days, but atm it's not really struck me as trying to appeal to or be any particular ideology. EDIT: As for the topic, I don't see Taker ever jumping ship from WWE but if by some miracle he did, I'm not sure what he'd accomplish- yeah he's enough of a name to get people to go WHOA TAKER'S GONE WHERE?!, but the novelty of his appearances wore out a while ago, other than Arrive, Tombstone, Leave, he can't bring anything anymore. He'd only work as an attention grabber to get people's eyes on for a few minutes, and then you'd need a red-hot show around that. He's not even Special Attraction status anymore.

He is just going to start appearing at Conventions. Thats it. See Mark Callaway at New Jersey Super Wrestling Con, Saturday only.
I swear this going to AEW stuff is maddening. They've signed 20 or so wrestlers and ONE was a former WWE guy, Pac. Jericho had been close with them for more then a year, he is not just "Lets sign ex WWE guys." Now if a WWE wrestler doesnt show up to a show, "hE iS gOiNg To AeW!!".
People finish up with WWE and go on with their lives.

The guy is 53 years old, can barely move and has been wrestling for thirty years. Maybe he's just sick of people tweeting at him, asking if he's going to be at Wrestlemania, and maybe he's heading Vince off before he's asked to go to Saudi Arabia again.

Taker goes to New Japan and has a five star match with Taichi. Damn it, now I want to see Taker's reaction to Taichi ripping off his pants in front of him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's now on a Legends deal instead of a talent contract. A lot of those guys make appearances on their own or through their own agents without WWE's involvement. They can pretty much do whatever they want, so long as they're not appearing on national TV for a competitor. Yeah, this probably means he’s done wrestling.

I bet Taker’s appearance fees are a bargain. You have to think the power of teleportation really cuts down on airfare.
