ROUND ONE:
1919-1922-----Nosferatu 1923-1926-----The Phantom of the Opera 1927-1929-----The Man Who Laughs
1930-1932-----Frankenstein 1933-1934-----King Kong 1935-1936-----The Bride of Frankenstein 1937-1939-----Son of Frankenstein
1940-1941-----The Wolf Man 1942-1943-----Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man 1944-1945-----The Monster Maker 1946-1949-----House of Horrors/Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein (tie)
1950-1954-----Creature From the Black Lagoon 1955-1956-----Invasion of the Body Snatchers/Night of the Hunter (tie) 1957-----------The Curse of Frankenstein 1958-----------Dracula 1959-----------House on Haunted Hill
1960-----------Psycho 1961-----------The Pit and the Pendulum
We head even further into the 1960's with the poll for 1962. Vote for your favorite, and, as always, explain your choice (if you like), as well as mention any other movies you might have seen on this list, below.
We will also accept Write in Votes (although, please mention it as such) for movies not included on the list I'm getting the choices off of. However, I will not remove any from the list (I can't by that point), so, if you want to make your case why a certain movie isn't a horror film, make it. Hell, you might end up swaying a few voters from going in that direction, but I can't/won't remove it from the list or DQ it.

It's been a good many years since I've seen CARNIVAL OF SOULS, but I think it's the best thing in this list.

Carnival of Souls is clearly the best here.
The Brain that Wouldn't Die is certainly interesting but not that good.
King Kong vs Godzilla is amusing.
Day of the Triffids is a great book, the 1962 film not so much.
I'll give the vs movie a vote as Carnival should run away with this.
---
Looking forward to 1963 some great potential films in that year.

Even though it was close for a bit, Carnival of Souls wound up picking up speed in the last few hours of this poll, and won with a comfortable lead. I wound up voting for this one as well, as it's a damn creepy movie, and is probably one of the best Public Domain movies ever (THE best ever, and a movie that was definitely influenced by CoS, will pop up in 1968's poll).
I also do want to mention Tales of Terror, which is an anthology of Poe stories. Pretty fun.
The Manster, The Brain That Wouldn't Die, and King Kong Vs. Godzilla are fun of a different sort, but still pretty fun.
All right then....on to 1963.

I’m starting to think that I don’t have the same taste in horror movies as the general public does.

I’m starting to think that I don’t have the same taste in horror movies as the general public does. That's all right, man. The movies I voted for haven't always been the ones to go on to the next round either. Besides, we still have 56 more years to get through. I'm sure some of your faves will win at least some of the polls.
