For most of 2018, he had what I call the most organic rise to the top. The fans would go apeshit for him to destroy people in the way they popped for Goldberg in the late 90s.
But then, the turning point came with the failed cash-in. Then, the wind was let out the sail with the heel turn. Roman gets sick and had to retire, so the heel turn was abruptly scrapped. Now it's time to rebuild Braun up again as a monster face, and give him a heel authority figure as an obstacle along the path.
Then TLC came and it didn't help his image. And although his arm was in a sling, he needed the help from the job squad (Gable, Roode, and Crews) to defeat Corbin. Considering Braun has been booked as a super human who can turn over 18 wheel trucks with his back hands, it just looked strange in that he needed backup against a chickenshit heel.
So, where does Strowman go for WM? I don't think we need another Bruan/Corbin match. McIntrye/Cena seems to be a lockin, considering Drew was the one who "injured" John and took him out the Rumble. Does Braun get another filler match for Mania? Can he be rebuilt at this point?

I don't think anyone can be "the guy" because they would have to get behind someone for them to be "the guy" and when they do, it cuts the legs out of anything organically that grows.

In my opinion, no. I think that he will have a good career, but not quite the great career that he could have had. With a guy that size and with the popularity that he had, they should have put the belt on him and made him the top guy. Instead, they turned him heel and jobbed him out a bunch of times. In other words, he could have been Hulk Hogan, but they booked him like "Made in the USA" Lex Luger, but his talent and charisma will lead him to a very Big Show-esque career.

Strowman's fate was sealed the moment he forgot all of his lines in his promo leading up to the Royal Rumble match against Lesnar. While he may get a world championship sometime in the future, his reign will be relegated to 'replacement Lesnar' when either Brock steps away for a longer period to focus on his UFC training, or gets traded over to Smackdown away from the Universal Belt.

True, I still say there is hope with a Bryan/Strowman feud. If the rumors are true in that Bray will become one of Bryan's followers. They can add some backstory into it as Brawn being the one who got away from the former Wyatt family.

He'll be the new Big Show/Kane where he's the "credible" opponent for trying to get someone over and he can lose but still be the "scary" opponent in the future just because he's big. And he'll be able to flip heel and face depending on the sitch like he'll get brought out as "punishment" by authority figures like "Oh yeah? WELL NOW YOU HAVE TO FACE BRAUN!" or a heel getting his comeuppance kinda thing.

I love the big lug. Huge fan, but I lost hope in him being the guy when they wouldn’t put the Title on him at Crown Jewel. Only hope he has is going to SmackDown and winning the WWE Title there.

he might (finally) get a world/universal title run or two at some point but all the losses to lesnar has pretty much ruined his chances of becoming "the guy" at this point. mostly because he had the misfortune to get red hot during roman's final coronation tour which would not be allowed to be deflected in any way. though ironically the feud with roman was what kickstarted braun's charge up the card to begin with.

He’s had so many shots to be ‘The Guy’ but for some reason WWE won’t make that extra step with him. It’s sad I’m a big fan but he could use a move to Smackdown to refresh.

Nah. He's the new Big Show. A utility main eventer who can believably get a transitional title push at any point, but he's never going to have the show built around him. Especially with Roman looking like he's taking treatment really well, and Rollins being built up. Braun is exponentially more limited than those guys.

Strowman as a character and as a performer had too many holes to be The Guy.

Personally, I think they turned him face too quickly the first time around. Should've just let him be the dominant top heel for a while
He'll get the belt at some point I'm sure but it won't be the same as if they'd just gone with him whilst he was hot.

He could be pushed as the guy but he will never recover his momentum.

They never planned for him to be “The Guy” so I don’t think so.

He is very likely to eventually be champion, but he will never be the guy.

Nope. Not putting the title on him at Crown Jewel killed any chance of that

That ship sailed. Him being the one to take the Universal Title off of Brock at Wrestlemania last year was the time to do it.
