The fake sparks are what makes this come together as high comedy.

I'm a fan. There are enough wrestlers out there to turn to for more traditional wrestling things. Oddballs like Joey Ryan are fun too and add variety to the whole of wrestling.

PWG is super tight with their trademarks, so I’ve never seen what he did there on YouTube. I can say every match I’ve seen elsewhere, and every match I’ve seen live, was absolute garbage. All respect to dude because he can do his schtick until he’s 100 with no significant damage, but if he never crossed my field of vision again I would not be sad.

Joey Ryan was never thought of as on those guys level whatsoever. He didn’t make a real name for himself until the dick gimmick, you are giving him too much credit. I'll agree to disagree then, because when I first started getting into PWG and socal wrestling it was literally because I heard from other people "Hey, you need to check out these matches guys like Bryan and Hero are having with some dude named Joey Ryan, they're good!" Along with examples of replacing Joey's name with Super Dragon's or a lot of the then top socal talent in PWG. There was definitely buzz around the core PWG guys in the 2000's, because I have met many fans with similar stories as to how they got into PWG. Personally while I felt he was a step below them at the very start of the company Joey really grew into his own once he started his 70's sleaze persona and has been a phenomenal talent since for years. I think if you think he didn't make a name for himself before the dick gimmick you're selling him short. People have known who Joey Ryan is for well over a decade now, that's a fact, and he's only really started using the dick gimmick the last few years. Yea we can definitely agree to disagree. I just can’t imagkne PWG fans, during the time Bryan and Hero were working those shows, were telling you to watch Joey Ryan matches.

No, Joey's been on the indies since the early 2000's and he's had his fair share of gimmick evolution along the way. I'd recommend checking out PWG if you want to see Joey doing things other than this bit, there's years worth of material that show him to be comparable to a Bryan or Punk or Joe or Ohno or Sami or Owens in terms of skill and talent. This is just his latest bit and one that he does on honestly probably less than a quarter of the shows he's on per year. But because he's in that weird space Ohno was in post-NXT and a lot of the remaining older indie gen are in, his great matches aren't what get him noticed versus the comedy shtick in this age where more eyes are drawn more to "viral" material. Similar to how when he first started going viral in his tag team with Candice and he was doing the Crotch/Ballsplex (an overhead suplex done by grabbing someone's privates from behind). Joey Ryan was never thought of as on those guys level whatsoever. He didn’t make a real name for himself until the dick gimmick, you are giving him too much credit. You really need to refamilairize yourself with the 2000's indie scene. He was one of the guys who built PWG and had a name to the point where his upcoming debut even got vignettes on ROH DVDs at a time when that really didn't happen. Then, again pre-Penis-palooza, his 2012 appearance on TNA's Gut Check got the biggest voter turnout and reaction that the segment would ever have. After this he was well established as a draw on the east coast as well - all without penis shizz.

Joey Ryan’s Iron Dick style is always good for a chuckle. It’s silly fun.

If you listen closely, you can hear Jim Cornette's aneurysm around the globe. I wonder what would annoy him more. This, or that if Revival leave WWE, he'll pretty much have to work a show with Ryan and Omega at least once since they'd probably write him a fat check to manage the Revival. (I know Cornette doesn't want to tour anymore, but there's no way he'd turn down a one-off, and the Bucks, etc, wouldn't turn down a chance to have freaking James Cornette have to swallow his pride and work for them) Honestly I see people pitch the idea a lot but don't really get what Cornette would actually add to this. It's not like Dawson and Wilder are great promos or anything but they can manage, and the appeal's a lot more in the match and their attitudes than anything. Don't really see why he would be of any actual use for this angle.

I think it'd also just give them a reason to be drawn into a feud with any number of people that, yeah, Cornette's been vocal about. I doubt he'd be with them for the long haul, but it'd be a good jumping off point for them.

He hated Omega because of personal reasons, not the silly wrestling stuff, he doesn’t need an AEW paycheck and out of principle he won’t even consider it.

Oh, I am sure he doesn't NEED the money, but he's also sat at a table with Bischoff, went back to TNA, and was on WWE produced TV to induct the Rock and Roll Express. His principles have been more flexible than he lets on, provided it's not like a Russo situation. I don't think you could get him to shake Russo's hand if you said you could bring him 100 years of Smoky Mountain being a thing.

Honestly, Joey Ryan needs to just f*** off. I absolutely detest and see not even a remote bit of comedy element to what he does. Why The Elite seem so big on him and stuff is beyond me. Though I guess it's probably dating back to the early years of PWG. I think it goes even before PWG. Matt and Nick were backyarders who rubbed people the wrong way in wrestling school. Super Dragon said that during the first or second lesson, they were bragging about doing 450 splashes. It’s safe to say that they were disliked. Joey Ryan was the only veteran who was nice to them.

Ok the tna thing was because Jarrett and Dutch, one of his mentors, asked him to come on board and help them out, Jeff’s dad actually broke Jim into the business. He returned because Anthem, along with Jeff and Dutch asked him. He didn’t want to do the round table with Bischoff but at the same time he didn’t want to potentially harm his buddies Hall of fame induction. He’Il go back on his word and be very flexible with his principles if it’s to help a friend out. I don’t think he has any friends in AEW, maybe Cody because Dusty was another on of his mentors but I would be very very surprised if that happens. He’s just annoyed by the Bucks and Ryan, on the other hand he hates Kenny Omega because of personal stuff that happened in ROH when he worked there.

I'm not saying there weren't extenuating circumstances, there of course were, just saying I could see this being less of a zero percent chance situation, particularly if he thought he'd be doing Revival a favor with it.

It’s not impossible but highly improbable. There’s a better chance of CM Punk returning to raw and doing a program with Triple H.

The thing about Cornette and the Bucks, he's said he doesn't dislike the Bucks personally. In fact there was one of his shows relatively recently, where he put them over pretty decently for the whole All In deal and taking that shot. I think he just hates their super kick party schtick and doing so to small children (he put over the kid for selling it). He might actually be going soft on us. However, I can't wait to hear his meltdown on this next week.
This is a front runner, however, for the most outlaw mudshow think of 2019. There's approximately 12 people in the audience and just when you thought the dick spot couldn't get more absurd, you were wrong.

Joey's one of the smartest guys on the indies. Constant character changes (some just out right horrible, I'm looking at YOU Hollywood Submission Machine) and he lands on one that doesn't involve him destroying his body night in and out.

Joey Ryan just has “it”. Even before the penis stuff. Some of it is hit or miss, but anytime you can bring a chainsaw into a wrestling ring and some how make if work? This is golden.

These guys were considered some of the best in the world and Joey Ryan was not. He is not a blip on anyone’s radar until the penis video went viral. Being a midcarder on PWG shows doesn’t mean you are on Bryan Danielson level.
