...Wouldn't the chainsaw have cut through his trunks though? Unless it's the trunks that are made of iron and Joey's dick is just a normal dick protected by iron trunks?

You really need to refamilairize yourself with the 2000's indie scene. He was one of the guys who built PWG and had a name to the point where his upcoming debut even got vignettes on ROH DVDs at a time when that really didn't happen. Then, again pre-Penis-palooza, his 2012 appearance on TNA's Gut Check got the biggest voter turnout and reaction that the segment would ever have. After this he was well established as a draw on the east coast as well - all without penis shizz. I don’t need to do that. These guys were considered some of the best in the world and Joey Ryan was not. He is not a blip on anyone’s radar until the penis video went viral. Being a midcarder on PWG shows doesn’t mean you are on Bryan Danielson level. Just because you weren't up on something doesn't mean it didn't exist. Sounds like you do need to spend some time with the early aughts' indies.

Dude won pretty much every major accolade you could in the company at least once, several times over in regards to their tag titles.

Yeah, I originally couldn't stand Joey Ryan, sight practically unseen, just because he was ALL people would talk about when talking about PWG. Then I actually saw him, and yeah....dude deserved the hype.

If one says wrestling is a form of art, then it's sorta perfect that wrestling is performed on a sheet of canvas. Because in art, you can create anything on that blank canvas.
Joey Ryan has created a niche that doesn't necessarily fit for some fans and that's fine. Like art, it's all subjective.
I remember people (I think Vader specifically) being upset about how 'flippy' that Ricochet-Ospreay match was a couple of years back. Does it make sense to have a performance like that followed by Pat Buck using a chainsaw to attempt to cut off Joey's diamond dick? Why the hell not? When one match ends, you clear the canvas and do something new.
I think that's why I enjoy wrestling. Because it's such an unique medium where the rules are arbitrary from one match to another. The things guys do in a hardcore match and kick out at 2 seems insane compared to how another match simply ends with one kick to the face.
I want all of it. Some of it clicks, some of it don't. Joey's a great example of someone who's willing to try. He doesn't bat a thousand, but separating yourself from the pack in an increasingly crowded spectacle is worth the gamble IMO.

Yeah I never get why people get so precious about what should and shouldn't happen in wrestling. The art form is wide open now and that's really cool.

Joey is a guy who could do a little bit of everything but figured out that the dick thing is what everyone wanted and what paid the bills. No one would shame a job guy for making a living doing jobs. Joey is just the dick guy and it earns him a pretty damn good living

Thinking Joey was a midcarder in PWG is genuinely mystifying to me. Dude won pretty much every major accolade you could in the company at least once, several times over in regards to their tag titles. I get it, you guys are fans of him, that’s good. But, putting him on a level he was never on is equally as mystifying. Maybe he had his place I PWG, but outside of that, he was not the star on the indies back then you are making him out to be, and not near the star he is now. And as far as shaming him or saying he shouldn’t make a living, that isn’t what I am saying from my POV. But, that video shown above is not entertaining to me. It didn’t look good. It was overly hokey and ridiculous in a way that is not enjoyable. The dick spot never looks good. Maybe if he found a way to use his dick in an offensive way that was somewhat visually appealing or done in a professional manner, I wouldn’t mind it. But, a guy grabbing YOUR dick, you scream, then they flip themselves over does not look like something that takes any training, skill, or professionalism to do. Why am I going to pay for something a bunch of drunk bros could film themselves doing and put on YouTube?
