... didn't in any way feature any members of the Shield.
The only exceptions were the SmackDown-only PPVs after the 2017 shakeup, since all three Shield members were on Raw and thus weren't eligible for them.
The last time there was a PPV without them on the main show was SummerSlam 2013, while the last one period was the 2013 Royal Rumble.

I like the Shield guys, but it does kinda show that an era is potentially over.

I like the Shield guys, but it does kinda show that an era is potentially over. Gonna kinda have to be, Dean's opting out, Roman's future in wrestling is completely uncertain for the forseeable future at least if not longer, Rollins is all they got going forward. Now if we can just end this Lesnar Era for good.

And from what I read about it, the show stunk. Come on AEW.

The Chamber matches didn't though, which the show was centered around Meh. Well reasoned argument, you have persuaded me otherwise

Why would it be anything like TNA though? Are there any of the same people involved? I don’t understand where this line of thinking is coming from.

No, I'm just saying that people are letting themselves get way too hyped up over AEW right now, to the point where it's entirely possible that the expectations fans are building up in their heads exceed the reality of what is eventually delivered. AEW have a talented roster, money behind them, and Cody and the Bucks talk a good game, but that don't mean squat if the booking isn't any good, or if whatever network they end up on decide the ratings aren't where they need to be and start marking demands.

I exclude the 2013 Rumble because they at least made an appearance in the main event so they were at least on the show (and you can also somewhat make a case for Dean and Roman at SummerSlam even though it was the pre-show yes) so when you think about it, the last non-exclusive PPV that one of the members didn’t make an appearance on was Hell in a Cell 2012...which was the show BEFORE they debuted. Which is really f***ing crazy.

I agree. I am optimistic for them, but delivering a great in ring product is only half the battle.

The Chamber matches didn't though, which the show was centered around Meh. Both Chamber matches were very good, the Becky/Charlotte/Ronda segment was very good and the Miz/Shane vs. Usos match was pretty entertaining. That's four slots out of a 6-match main show, with the two bookend matches taking up the vast majority of the show. I have no idea how that qualifies as, "Meh."

On the whole I kind of lean positive on the show, since the EC matches themselves were great as was the Becky segment, but personally I thought that McMiz / Usos match was godawful.

People like different things. Miz entertains me, Shane is entertaining in the waiting on the car-crash type of thing and I'm happy to see the Usos against anyone other than the Bar or the new Day. I guess those factors contributed to it not putting me to sleep. Regardless, I just don't see how somebody can, "meh," the show based on how much time was occupied by great matches and a great segment.

I wouldn't call it a great show but I certainly wouldn't call it a bad one.

This was also the first time the WWE Title match had closed a duel brand show since the recent roster split.
Kinda speaks volumes...

I think this is genuinely a reason why I enjoyed the Chamber match so much. Not a single f***ing Shield guy in sight.
