Excluding what people may have thought about RAW last night, there’s a lot of discussion about how bad the crowd was and it made me think...was it better or worse than everybody’s favorite dead crowd from Corpus Christi, Texas?

I've been in 10% capacity arenas that have more life than a jam packed Corpus Christi
Is there something demographically/regionally/historically significant about that city that explains it?

Corpus Christi did have that great Cena/Owens match at Elimination Chamber 2015, so that's one leg up on Lafayette.

Like I said in another thread, they really need to stop filming in these dead crowd cities.
Philly, NY, Chicago... these are the absolute best crowds. They sell everything. I’m not saying they should be there every week but mix it up with Orlando, New Jersey, Houston etc.
These are big wrestling cities.

No, but I think I remember reading a couple years ago that the reason they run Corpus Christi so often is because they move a ton of merch at live events. It benefits them financially to run that town, even if it makes the TV product seem lifeless. |

Our arenas aren't huge, but I still can't believe that West Virginia hasn't had a televised event in 21 years. We've got the hottest, least smarky crowds you'll ever find, and merch sells like it will never be offered again. Guys like Cena and Roman are over here like Punk in Chicago.

I recall an Invasion era Cajundome show where Angle had his lone title defense vs. Shane of all people. I distinctly recall that show dying horribly in terms of heat due to the lifeless crowd. It's odd to see a LA crowd so dead given the crazy stories of Mid-South in that area, where guys were practically attacked by fans. Of course those feuds had intense audience heat, whereas why would any of these Louisiana fans care about DIY vs. The Revival out of nowhere? Southern fans need to be engaged emotionally by a personal issue.

Our arenas aren't huge, but I still can't believe that West Virginia hasn't had a televised event in 21 years. We've got the hottest, least smarky crowds you'll ever find, and merch sells like it will never be offered again. Guys like Cena and Roman are over here like Punk in Chicago. I was in WV a few months back for a festival, and I remember being surprised by the amount people I saw rocking wrestling shirts. Quite a variety too. A lot of Balor, and even MULTIPLE Baron Corbin shirts! :0 |

While last night's wasn't great, Corpus Christi has been just about completely dead every time I've watched a show from there. Last night they did make SOME noise every now and then for Braun, Finn, Ricochet and with the "We Want Becky" chants during the main event.

Why, oh why, do they not wait until they're in front of a traditionally loud, smarky crowd, to debut a bunch of NXT guys? Honestly, you'd think they'd realise by now that if a live crowd makes a big deal of someone, then even people who've never heard of them will think those wrestlers are a big deal.

Yeah, it’s been 15 years since WWE did tv in Winnipeg. And both those shows were near instant sellouts, and hot as f*** crowds. The weird thing is, literally every RAW from now until WrestleMania is in a big city that would possibly have that crowd... Atlanta, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Boston, and the go home in Washington. |

The hardcores don't go to the shows (unless it's something huge like the Rumble), so instead you get casuals from within about a 100 mile radius or so. |

Corpus at least booed the shit out of Carmella and Ellsworth when he tripped Delilah Doom, but she's also someone who has wrestled here on the indies a good deal, and it was man laying hands on a woman, so it was going to get a reaction.
I'd like to nominate jaded LA crowds as being pretty shit most times I've seen them do shows there.

The Chris Benoit RAWWasn't there that SmackDown where Jack Swagger and Rey Mysterio had that "Gulf of Mexico Match" where the goal was to dump the other in the water and the crowd only popped when Kane showed up? |
