Hey, WWE? Do not rush him back, with some fantasy that he'll spike ratings back up and keep them there. Let him take time off with his family, to take stock of his life and prepare himself completely before he goes back on the road.

They are already selling "Roman Beat Cancer "Shirts, so i think they want him as soon as possible.

I knew better than to get sucked into a "its a work!!" debate on Facebook of all places and yet maybe I don't know better.
ANYWAY super happy for Roman, this is great news.

The NBA brought back Magic Johnson to play in the All Star Game a few months after he retired due to testing HIV Positive. While the fans definitely wanted to see Magic again, the NBA and NBC had no problem promoting it as a must-see event. I am not bothered by WWE's promotion of Roman being on TV Monday, but that comparison doesn't compare with what Dave is criticizing. Dave is specifically referring to WWE saying that Roman will give a health update on Raw. There was no, "Tune in to NBC to hear Magic Johnson give an update on his health." It was tune-in to watch him play basketball. You can boil it down to advertising that Roman has a health update, and you can tune in to Raw to find out what that update is. That's very different from Magic in the All Star game. No, there wasn't a, "tune-in to get a health update," promotion for Magic Johnson. There was a, "Tune in to see Magic play for the last time ever!" There was also an underlying theme of, "Tune in to see Magic play for the last time ever because he might be dead in the next five years." That might sound like some bullshit but anybody who lived through Magic's announcement knows that is a pretty accurate representation of the time. As far as Roman goes, he certainly didn't look like someone who was being exploited. He looked like someone who had an opportunity to celebrate something with people who mean something to him and he took that opportunity.

I think the exploit comes off more from WWE using the cancer for publicity/making money of people.

Good for Roman. Let's hope his issues stay away and he has a long, happy life. And hey, if he can continue to wrestle at a high level - even better.

Roman could realistically have a Mania Match or at least a Mania spot now
But you need to build him back slowly, don't push shit. The crowds are nuts for him right now, the sound effects with his moves were something I hope sticks, and I hope the dog barking is another thing that sticks because that's an awesome thing no one else has right now in WWE.

They'll do dog barking for Titus O'Neil once in a while. But he never gets put in a prominent enough position to get the barking, I think it's only twice ever that it's been sustained beyond him specifically signalling for it.

Just read a whole twitter convo between Helms and Meltzer on this, with Meltzer saying it's disgusting that WWE are using this for ratings, that no other sport would do this, and Helms arguing "What if Roman wanted to update his fans like this? He can do it how he chooses", and Meltz replying "Well why doesn't he show up unannounced then?", and still arguing his point that no other sport would advertise someone returning from an illness for a ratings grab. Wonder if the name Mario Lemieux means anything to Dave Meltzer? Jon Lester? Eric Davis? Saku Koivu?

Wonder if the name Mario Lemieux means anything to Dave Meltzer? Jon Lester? Eric Davis? Saku Koivu? Meltzer's issue was that WWE never even provided any information as to what the direction the update would be - that, in effect, they were saying, "Tune in on Monday Night to find out if Roman's fight against cancer is going well, or if he only has six months left to live!" Meltzer even said (at least on the radio shows, I'm not sure about on Twitter) that he would be fine if WWE said something along the lines of "Roman's fight against cancer is going well, and he will be on Raw to give a more complete update" - then, they could still try to drive fans to watch Raw, but not use the fans' genuine worry that it might be bad as a way to try to pop a rating.

There isn't and may never be again a wrestler like Roman Reigns who went from one of the most hated (mainly character wise) to one of the most respected, loved, and cheered for guys in all of wrestling let alone WWE like he has, let alone in such a short time.
But as someone who last year went through a Cancer scare, went through the surgeries, and is still going through follow up tests, the next round coming up literally Wednesday as I type this... Roman's character could literally shoot a dog at this point, Im not booing him again. Might I get annoyed if it gets bad? Maybe, but I ain't worrying about that petty shit right now, cause Roman's back, he's happy, he's healthy, and he's doing what he loves, getting the reactions and support he deserves.
Keep swingin' and knockin' it out Big Dog, you got me in your corner now. We both kicked Cancer's ass!

Mmm. I'm hella super sensitive about not wanting WWE to exploit this but I disagree with Meltz here nonetheless.
None of what I read happened tonight sounded too bad and yeah it all seems to be "what Roman wanted" so I don't see the issue.
And anyways they're using the GOOD news on tv. I mean shit, that SHOULD be celebrated.
