Hmmm, if they don't get a TV deal then does FAN keep the IMPACT forum? Would TNA still somehow be the #2(huh huh) promotion in America?

I mean they are a new promotion, it was very wishful thinking they are going to get a good spot on a good network
Let them build themselves up and give them time but they are making such a big splash with way they are going about it I still wonder how much fab anticipation and possible unfair expectation could potentially hurt them if they don’t come out the gates hot like people want

I just read that Meltzer said something on Wrestling Observer Radio the other day about AEW's potential TV deal that was much less positive than several weeks ago where he basically said AEW had offers that were bigger/better than TNA getting on Spike TV. Is that true?

If they don’t get on television then they won’t mean much more than Lucha Underground. They have some big money behind them too. Sure, they’ll get a lot of buzz for a year or two but then they’ll just be another promotion like MLW floating around out there. You don’t pick up casual viewers unless you can reach them. Internet wrestling attracts the same old internet fans. It kind of reminds me of local promotions advertising their local indie show on the internet and wondering why the same fifty fans showed up when they could’ve put posters up all over town and drawn a hundred more. You need casual fans and curious people that would check out your product and possibly become a regular viewer. That doesn’t happen unless they know about your product and it’s easily accessible to them.

I knew this would inevitably be the case because their fans were casting too wide a f***ing net for a company that has never put out a televised show.
And I would not doubt if they tried to use ALL IN as some negotiating tool but that they inevitably would not swallow their pride to get a good TV slot(like the rumor of the only way they were getting on a turner network was to bring in Goldgerg) and weren't willing to give networks their piece of the pie....so they either got no TV now or had to take the worst deal they could get just to get on TV.

TNA's serial cancellations have hurt badly. The existing stuff is on small stations like El Rey, beIN and AXS. AXS doesn't even subscribe to Nielsen

Not necessary? Cmon man it’s a huge source of revenue and advertisement. Impact thought they could survive on streaming and twitch and look how it turned out for them.
It’s the only way to reach casual fans for the moment.

Is that true? Eh, not really. He was asked, "Can Dave give an update on AEW's TV negotiations, and does he think we will see them on TV in 2019?" on Wednesday night/Thursday morning, to which Meltzer said,

I think if he wants to change wrestlings, its necessary.

Honestly, I think you could take it as bad signs for a TV deal but also take it as keeping their cards to their chest.
I mean, better to try and keep things vague instead of potentially say something that hinders the deals in place.

It’s the only way to reach casual fans for the moment. I checked out impact last night on twitch.....they only had 6,000 viewers. Now for twitch I'm sure thats a high number....but yea.

411 reports some twitter guy says that Wade Keller made a speculation that something Cody said may be seen as a bad sign if you wanna make assumptions. I think I followed that.

Maybe Cody could come on the PPV screen and tell us all about how he's a big pioneer in cord-cutting, explaining that while WWE is still stuck on obsolete cable TV, AEW looks to the future.

They are dead in the water with no tv. If they want to compete it’s a necessity

What would separate them from ROH or any other indy with no tv deal? Hell that’s where most of the hype around the promotion is coming from

They only way I see AEW even mattering more than your average super Indy without TV is if they get a hefty Netflix/Hulu push to put up an episode a week. But even then that's not as big as TV. Not even close.

Cody’s just talking. TV(on a mainstream network) is absolutely essential. None of those TNA channels are going to cut it, WGN isn’t going to cut it, it needs to be an actual network that everyone has access to. Failing that if they did get a deal to put up an episode a week on Netflix that would be the next best thing.

A TV deal or at least a deal with Netflix or something is absolutely necessary.
