That, as a whole, 1997 is the single best year of the "modern" era of pro wrestling. Here, I'm designating the "Modern Era", as anything from the advent of PPV onwards, so from about the infancy of Hulkamania to now. Simply put, a stacked WCW rolling up the map on WWF, who themselves had easily the best main event roster the company ever had. ECW's cult following was solidly established and utterly fanatical, and the Japanese scene was as healthy as it would ever be up until the past few years. Is this even a topic for dispute?
