Didn't quit, was fired via a one sentence email after refusing to do it. Give Dixie some credit it was a little longer than one sentence. Below is the complete e-mail. Jesus f***ing Christ!

I could be wrong, but didn't the Road Warriors leave WWF not just because of the "Hawk is a drunk" angle, but specifically because Hawk wanted it to be a good redemption story, and instead they booked it completely tasteless culminating in the infamous titantron fall? I could have sworn I read that somewhere. They were there up through summer 99 (though almost never on tv, their last appearance were as bystanders in the Iron Circle match at Fully Loaded 99).

Ric Flair leaving WCW foe WWF because he didn't want to do the Spartacus gimmick. Flair didn't quit over that, and Flair didn't quit to begin with. The Spartacus thing was set to happen even before the Black Scorpion stuff finished, which is why Ric showed up with short hair during it. He didn't want to do the Spartacus gimmick, but he was going along with it until they switched plans. That all happened in late 1990. Flair wasn't fired until September of 1991. Anyone trying to tie it all up together has their timeline wrong, and that includes Flair himself.

Allegedly Verne Gagne was asked to play a Martian in the Dumont network and he just walked out.

Ric Flair leaving WCW foe WWF because he didn't want to do the Spartacus gimmick. I think the plans for that gimmick got shelved way before he left. He cut his hair short, then they had him win the WCW Championship from Sting in January 1991. He remained champion until he left at the beginning of July.

I could have sworn I read that somewhere. Did they leave the company in late 1998 when that whole angle happened? They'd return at WM15 for the pre-show battle royal and were then released a week or so later (along with the Oddities and a bunch of other lowcarders), so I thought they just were taken off TV after the Hawk titantron fall thing.

The hell is the Flair Spartacus deal? Were they going to make him a Roman slave gladiator?

Anyone trying to tie it all up together has their timeline wrong, and that includes Flair himself. Other remnant of that gimmick was the change in theme music after Starrcade '90. They jettisoned the 2001 theme and replaced it with something, well, more Ben-Hur like. (It wasn't a BAD theme too...)
