Is it too much trouble to tell just like. A f***ing story? With characters? That plays off of their shared history and makes for some nice dramatic storytelling? This is piss. Agreed. Batista is the one guy HHH couldn’t beat. The storyline reasoning pretty much writes itself.

So it took you all twenty years to realize his promos are long winded nothingness repeated over and over?
Guess what.
Next Monday he’s cutting the same promo, just with moar pauses.

I'll defend the real name shit.
Even in kayfaybe we're not expected to believe a guy was born named triple h, stage names are a thing in the real world it would be no different to pusha t tweeting something like "this isnt pusha t calling out drake but terrace thornton calling aubery drake out"
It's almost always usually awful in wrestling wheen they attempt it but it doesn't necessarily go against kayfaybe.

If Batista "really" did things to Richard and not to Ric then it shouldn't result in a wrestling match.

He was actually banned from driving because he would only ever travel to destinations at 1 mph.

Batista could be upset that Triple H always liked Ric better than he did, even after Batista went out and became a movie star to win his attention and praise, and it would be better than this bullshit. Batista being jealous of Ric and HHH's relationship like a child would definitely make for a more interesting story. Maybe that'll be his explanation, but I doubt it. Batista: "WHY DID YOU GET TO SEE RIC IN HIS COMA, HUH? I WAS NOT ONLY NOT WELCOME IN HIS HOSPITAL ROOM.. I WASN'T ALLOWED!" "Typical Hunter! Always trying to make himself look good--" "Why don't you come out here Dave?!" "You had 40 minutes last week and you still missed the damn point!! Look at you, always trying look like better than what you are! Let's be real: you've always been jealous & afraid of me! That's why you tried to ship me to Smackdown in 2005 after the Rumble! That's why you wanted my movies to fail! You're the embodiment of that old bastard of a chairman or that son of a bitch best friend of yours: a hypocrite"

Let's give Triple H some credit. That "attended a couple of his weddings", line was gold.
As for mentioning real names? That's kack. How did WWE lose the art form of a story?
My favourite blood feud in WWE was Ultimate Warrior vs Macho Man Randy Savage, settled in the ring, at Wrestlemania 7.
Not once did they say Randy Poffo is speaking to Jim Helwig.

Ric was Batista's friend too. They needed to actually establish why he would go so far as to cripple both their friend in order to coerce Trips into a match of all things. It's just like they skipped the introduction to the story and raced right to the betrayal part. It feels completely hollow because they never gave us a reason to invest in it besides, "OMG, Batista's back!" You could get that same response anywhere else. They're writing is absolute garbage right now. They're just going for shock and don't seem to care about anything else.
No wonder these guys insist on pushing their own angles through Twitter. Problem with that is they're wrestlers, not writers, and sometimes their ideas conflict with what's actually on tv. Plus there's no excuse for fitting narrative on a show that's three hours long. It's not even like the left and right hands aren't in sync, they more seem to be actively trying to punch each other down.

I hate this whole "blending kayfabe and reality" shit, because it makes everything look dumb and pointless. It's fictionalized drama, anyway you slice it. If anything that "isn't supposed to happen" happens, someone in the production truck can put the camera anywhere else. Look at the Lawler heart attack as an example. That was real. That wasn't supposed to happen, and it was handled way differently than this angle. It's just lame and insulting to think your audience is going to go "oooh, this is a shoot" because they decide to use real names this time. I hated it with the Punk angle, and I hate it now.

I thought the promo was good in parts, especially near the end when he got real fired up. The real name stuff us tacky though for sure. I think bringing up Flair's near death was fair game, Reid's death was unnecessary. Would've been more interesting if he pointed out that Batista himself was a great friend to Flair and how twisted he is for doing what he did just to get to Hunter. The promo almost came off like Batista barely had any affilliation with Flair or Triple H prior to this feud.

"Richard Fleihr" dropped in there as if a single person on the planet, including the judges at his divorce proceedings, has called him that since 1980.

As an aside, I find it goddamn weird Batista wasn't on the show this week. It may be for promotional reasons so the reason is understandable but considering a) ratings are falling and the end did a big number and b) The ending was MUCH talked about, the fact there wasn't a followup makes me hope they don't stretch it out for ages for the reason to be really stupid.
Remember the reason HHH attacked Seth Rollins and screwed him out of the universal title was because "He was injured that one time so he sucks now"? And that it took THREE MONTHS for HHH to say a thing about it?

I'd take Batista getting mad and wanting a match because HHH told him his nose ring looked stupid over this. Batista could be upset that Triple H always liked Ric better than he did, even after Batista went out and became a movie star to win his attention and praise, and it would be better than this bullshit. Hilarious part what if that is the reason for this feud? You called it here first bro lol

Ric was Batista's friend too. Well, he was supposed to be.
