The tasty cake was made, and then it starts collapsing on itself because of all the toppings added to it. is my favorite part. And for some reason, said toppings are Habaneros, Geflite Fish, and Salt.

The Network means they absolutely have to have a PPV every month. If they go a month without, a lot of people will drop subscriptions for a month until the next one. The only solution is to stop booking Mania in April and ain for March. Maybe some more network specials like Worlds Collide instead of PPVs.

The time frame is fine and it has always been fine, its the two PPV's in between thats the issue.
One PPV fair enough, but two is really devaluing it, because when the stuff we are supposed to be getting to is dragged through two PPVs it makes it feel like its being dragged on longer

Back in the days before the Rumble had any implications for the World title, the booking towards Wrestlemania usually had the bulk of its matches set practically in stone by the end of January or the first week in February. What helped this were a) the combatants did not give away for free what you were expected to pay for to see at 'Mania, and b) the presence of established stables run by a manager.
Let's take Hogan, for example. Wrestlemania II through IV involved him doing battle with members of Bobby Heenan's stable (King Kong Bundy at 2, Andre at 3 and 4), but the build up on TV and specifically on SNME involved Hogan facing another member of the stable with the potential for chicanery from his 'Mania opponent. It promoted the match while keeping the Full Monty from view before its time.
It's clear that WWE wants something of that again, but has no face champion who would logically be willing to act against such a stable. With the exceptions of Lio Rush and Drake Maverick (who's been MIA along with AOP), there are no regularly active managers at all, and neither is given the fullest opportunity to speak for their guys or to look credible as cerebral threats in an of themselves. There is also the problem of how both babyfaces and heels are drawn these days. The uber-dominant heel is far too common these days, and beatdown angles likewise have become so commonplace as to lose any meaning. They do less to put the heels over as Dastardly Characters and more to frustrate viewers to the point of turning off the TV or passing on the next live event.
As simplistic as it sounds, the woes that plague Wrestlemania this year are without question Creative's fault. Vince wanted to make his baby about the event itself, but has so hollowed out the reason Wrestlemania was so huge and thus created a vast, empty hulk in the midst of what has evolved into the biggest weekend of the year for the craft as a whole.

I like Elimination Chamber where it is I think. If you have to have a second PPV, make it an all brand special featuring matches between guys we haven't seen go at it dozens of time. Mix the NXT, UK, 205 Live, RAW and Smackdown rosters. Maybe cap off the main with RAW and Smackdown title holders (Big belt, midcard belt, tag champs) in a 4 vs 4 match. Winning team gets the main event slot at Mania and a cash bonus. I don't know, just brainstorming.
