What? You thought I wouldn't go without making a thread celebrating the fact that R-Truth finally lost his one reason to exist on television?
I know I'm probably going to be a bit mean here, but let me have my fun celebrating that there's one less ninny holding a championship in the wrestling world after tonight.

Ha, jeez. Congrats. I don't really get the hate though, and I didn't even care about R-Truth before he and Carmella became a thing together.

I appreciated his few weeks run. He did way more for that title than that bum Shinsuke did lmao.

I am actually kinda glad R-Truth got it at least once, but I wasn't happy with Rusev losing it.
Still, Samoa Joe winning it is certainly deserved, and I hope he can treat it like a big deal like Rusev and Nakamura were trying to, not R-Truth's "win it and disappear" strategy.

Technically, it's Truth's second reign as US Champion. On the plus side, hopefully we can finally do some creative stuff with the US scene as matches with Joe/Almas/Mysterio/Ali in the mix are likely. Yeah, Rusev losing it sucks, but let's face it; he's likely on the way out, and he and Nakamura are now team "Look At Our Crazy Passports", so it's unsurprising they went the long, convoluted way around taking it from people WWE doesn't want to do anything with to people WWE are likely going to do things with. The reason why I'm always so harsh on R-Truth as a character, and this goes all the way back to when he turned face after that brilliant "Awesome Truth" angle is that I don't like idiot babyfaces, period. I didn't care for when he celebrated "Little Jimmy" rather than condemned them, I especially didn't care for the Molten Poop, and it bugged me when he was holding the belt.

The US Title has been a huge mess for a while now. I think R-Truth's "reign" was my favorite of the last couple years to give you an idea of how low the bar has been set.

Huh, I have zero recollection of him winning it prior. Odd.

Huh, I have zero recollection of him winning it prior. Odd. It wasn't exactly the most memorable reign. He beat Miz to win the vacant title after Bret Hart won it, and then lost it in a Fatal 4 Way on the go-home show to Fatal 4 Way to sell the chances of new champs being crowned in the Fatal 4 Way matches on the show.

Looks like they're building to Joe vs Cena at Mania so hell yes to that.

R-Truth has been one of the best acts going these past few months. I'm ok with him dropping the title, I don't think he was intended to have a long run, but let's not act like it was a disaster.

Looks like they're building to Joe vs Cena at Mania so hell yes to that. Maybe so. I know that when he came to the main roster, they called attention to the fact that Joe and Cena trained together. It's possible that was just done to hype him for the crowd that may not know him, sure, but it also laid plenty of foundation for an eventual match between them. Given that I think they do like each other a lot, I could see Cena really enjoying it.

Honestly in just the past two weeks I think he had probably the best US title run in years.

I didn't mind it at all, had a feeling he would lose it soon, not a big deal one way or the other IMO.

A while back in another thread, I was ridiculed for saying that they put the U.S. title on R-Truth simply for good PR during black history month and I said that as soon as March began, he would lose the title faster than you could say "What's up?" Now, I'm not the kind of guy to say that I told you so, but.....

Just saw his promo from SD, and it was cringe worthy. Literally everything in that clip. His “jokes”, the stupid dance break nonsense, etc. It got to the point where I wanted Joe to kill him, which may have been the objective, I don’t know.
I didn’t see anything he did on this run but if it was anything like that promo, then yes, appreciate that he doesn’t have it anymore.

Molten poop..?
As someone who has defended Truth winning the belt (and I still say him winning it has made me mark out harder than anything that has happened with the US title in years), that segment before he lost the title was pretty damn bad and I'm not sad to see Joe finally win a title on the main roster.

Random dig Breezango said about the Golden Truth that I decided to call the team and got on Platypus Mod's nerves, and this was months before the team hit their groove with the Fashion Files segments. I especially wasn't a fan of months of WWE programming spent on Goldust wanting R-Truth to be his partner, and R-Truth wanting nothing of him, and then months of R-Truth wanting Goldust to be his partner, and Goldust wanting nothing of him, and this culminated with a lackluster tag run and a derpy t-shirt. Some people feel like the purpose of the segments was foreshadowing Joe vs. Cena, but I think, right now, it was merely just R-Truth being a blithering boob. While WWE would want to get Cena into WrestleMania (and unlike against Lars Sullivan, against an actual opponent that people would want to see put over), with Joe, you can go multiple ways if they can't get Cena, such as Ali vs. Joe, or Joe vs. Almas vs. Mysterio.
