There's never been any official name in pro wrestling for these common things in pro wrestling. By the fans, they're commonly called one of those 3 things, but on wrestling TV, none of these are commonly used in spoken word, so it obviously feels uncommon to say any of them. The only thing close is that the word "Stable" is used in the WWF Attitude video game, and the word "Faction" is used in the WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain video game. So what should they be called?

I think stable is the proper term when the guys involved are just loosely connected by sharing a manager while a faction is a group like the Horsemen, DX, or the NWO.

For me, "group" tends to be 3, like New Day or the Freebirds.
Faction is something big like The Dungeon of Doom, nWo, or the Alliance.
Stable is in-between.

The best was early ROH where Steve Corino had a faction named "The Group."

Stables and factions are two different things.
A faction would be 4-Horsemen, DX, NWO, basically gangs.
A stable is a collection of wrestlers under one manager, like what Jimmy Hart or Heenan would do.

Factions or groups. Stable just sounds weird.

A stable is where HORSES go (c) Bobby Heenan I wish I could find the promo where Cornette took that a step further. I can't remember exactly how it went but something like "Stables are for horses, (something is for something) and Charles Manson had a family!"

Was that before or after he uttered the highly-inaccurate "funny don't make money" notion?

Cornette just meant you can't push something like the Bushwhackers or Hornswoggle as your main event act and expect sell outs, high ratings, etc. He wasn't talking about serious wrestlers like The Rock or Ric Flair saying things that made people laugh.

Fair enough.

Just in general, I say faction or group. If I'm talking about Japan, I usually use unit.

Do what Edge and Christian did - if you can’t decide on whether to call it a faction or a regime, combine it and call it a “Fact-gime”.
