And now we enter another decade argued by many to be the greatest for Horror, the 1980's, and a lot of the years in this decade will be split into 3 parts, including this one. Vote for your favorite movie from this part of this year, and, as always, explain your choice (if you like), as well as mention any other movies you might have seen on this list, below.

We will also accept Write in Votes (although, please mention it as such) for movies not included on the list I'm getting the choices off of. However, I will not remove any from the list (I can't by that point), so, if you want to make your case why a certain movie isn't a horror film, make it. Hell, you might end up swaying a few voters from going in that direction, but I can't/won't remove it from the list or DQ it.

I also went with MANIAC. Joe Spinell plays a convincing creep.

Another hour or so to go. Maniac is in the lead, but there are a few that could creep up.

Surprisingly, Maniac ends up taking this one. A happy surprise, though, as that got my vote as well. Such a brutal movie, and sleazy....I mean, you practically have to wipe the grime off the television from watching it, as it captures that era of New York so well. Tom Savini's effects for this are off the chain, especially for the time.


Altered States was pretty trippy. Definitely a mind f*** film. Terror Train is kind of a forgotten early slasher, but it is quite good as well. Loves the fact that a costume party was happening on the train, allowing the killer to slip into different disguises to kill people. Motel Hell was a lot of fun.


The Boogeyman and Christmas Evil are decent, but nothing special. Nightmare City and Hell of the Living Dead are fun Romero rip offs. Hell of the Dead is particularly terrible, as it tries to drag a bit of the Cannibal films in it as well. Good cheese.
