Ring of Honor “Best in the World 2016”
June 24th, 2016
From the Cabarrus Arena in Concord, North Carolina
Commentators: Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness
Tonight: the biggest rematch In Ring of Honor history as Jay Lethal defends the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship against Jay Briscoe. Also Bobby Fish defends the Ring of Honor World Television Championship against Dalton Castle, the Addiction defend the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships against the Motor City Machine Guns and BJ Whitmer and Steve Corino finally settle their differences in a Fight Without Honor.
Kyle O’Reilly vs. Kamaitachi
This was a pretty dead opener for a pay per view. Kyle O’Reilly sucks and Kamaitachi didn’t have his stuffed cat. The ending was okay.
Winner: Kyle O’Reilly
Silas Young and ACH promo. Silas doesn’t consider ACH a man.
Silas Young vs. ACH
This was a good match but my attention waned. I remember this feud and I didn’t really like it.
Winner: ACH
JAY f***ING WHITE IS IN THE CROWD!!!!!
Mark Briscoe-Roderick Strong promo.
Roderick Strong vs. Mark Briscoe
I’d say I’m glad to watch this match because I think it’s the last Roderick Strong match I have on DVD, but since I watch my DVDs in non-sequential order I’m sure I still have hundreds of his matches to sit through.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
Adam Cole joining the Bullet Club recap.
Matt Taven joins the commentary team.
Six-Man Tornado Tag Match
War Machine & Moose w/Stokely Hathaway vs. the Bullet Club
This was entertaining but the winners were pretty obvious. f*** I hated Adam Cole in the Bullet Club. It was so forced.
Winners: the Bullet Club
For the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships
Motor City Machine Guns vs. the Addiction (champions)
This match was plodding along boringly then Kamaitachi came out and attacked (future IWGP Heavyweight Champion) Jay White.
Winners: the Addiction
Promo recapping Steve Corino and BJ Whitmers feud.
Nigel McGuinness wants nothing to do with the following unsanctioned match, so he leaves the booth and Ian Riccaboni takes his place.
The Ultimate Non-Sanctioned Fight Without Honor
Steve Corino vs. BJ Whitmer
I felt bad watching this because these two guys put a lot into this long feud and no one in the live crowd cared. No one in any of the live crowds from any of the DVDs I’ve seen leading up to this cared. I remember being at a TV taping a month before this and no one cared. The match was a good little bloody mess but it was too short. Kevin Sullivan came out at the end and cost Corino the match.
Winner: BJ Whitmer
Dalton Castle promo.
Bobby Fish promo.
Nigel McGuinness takes his spot on commentary back.
For the Ring of Honor World Television Championship
Dalton Castle w/multiple Boys vs. Bobby Fish (champion)
I honestly had such little care for this match that I just fast-forwarded it.
Winner: Bobby Fish
Cabinet promo.
For the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship
Jay Briscoe vs. Jay Lethal (champion) w/Taeler Hendrix
This was a good match but the pathetic crowd should have been nuclear for it. They were already dead by this point. The stupidest part was when Taeler Hendrix started hitting Jay Briscoe so the referee ejected her. Do you think Taeler Hendrix really had a chance of doing anything to Jay Briscoe?
Winner: Jay Lethal

A bunch of pre and post match promos.

It’s so strange how Ring of Honors “house shows” are always so much better than their pay per views. This show was so boring. The crowd was stunned silent the entire show except for a few big spots in the Fight Without Honor. But can you blame them? Would you recognize Kevin Sullivan these days if someone didn’t tell you that it was him?
The matches were just matches. Nothing was too crazy. Briscoe and Lethal only went a little over ten minutes. That's pretty f***ing sad for "the biggest rematch in Ring of Honor history".
Hard Pass.
