Hulk Hogan trickled down on most of the roster in the 80s and made them richer (he even mentions this in BATB 96 speech).
Stone Cold trickled down on the Rock and made him famous, plus the trickle-down effect that also benefitted the midcard/lowcard's careers.
How well would you say Cena trickled down on his contemporaries?

I don't think Cena trickled down on anything, considering he never put anyone over.

I’d say Cena helped this entire Indy class we’re seeing right now get over. Especially the guys that broke that glass ceiling in CM Punk and Bryan.
Every good underdog story needs a person at the top that represents the “oppressor”

I don't think Cena trickled down on anything, considering he never put anyone over. It's actually worth asking. Who came out of a feud with Cena unquestionably the better man? Bryan beat him at Summerslam but they made a huge deal out of Cenas elbow. Punk has 2 tainted wins against him as a face. He inexplicably just tore Roman apart in promos. AJ lost the belt to him because we needed another Cena reign. Brock didn't need the rub in the first place because he's Brock f***ing Lesnar and Cena wasn't even his biggest win in 2014. Seriously. I might be missing something really obvious. I dont want to say these guys suffered for their feuds with Cena because outside of Roman I dont think any of them did. But the point is still worth discussing

He made everyone think good guys getting booed was fine and ruined crowds forever with "controversial mixed reactions". Thanks a lot John!

Their feud is looked at as an even split, even if Cena did end his first title reign it was only a transition reign. When AJ beat Cena clean he was still one of the only few to do so and it gave AJ that edge on his heel turn and cemented as a big time player

Austin really trickled down on Arn Anderson. Homicide almost trickled down on CM Punk.

Had AJ not lost at the Rumble or lost the belt to someone else I would have agreed. But he dropped down the card to opening with Shane and then hanging in the US title picture until they gave up on Jinder. Again, Cena didn't ruin him but he did not definitively put him over. Not in the way that for example HHH put Batista over or Andre put Hogan over.

Made wrestling as irrelevant as it ever has been. This is a valid argument as well. You have to wonder how many people tuned out for a long time if not permanently when they forced Cena on us in 2005 to 2007. I know I largely switched off and turned to TNA at that point.

Maybe Edge? But then, you could also argue that a well past his prime Mick Foley did more for Edge than Cena ever did.

Then you got the guys that did go over but were dead in the water for other reasons like Tensai. That's right, Tensai went over John Cena.

The problem was the WWE's idea of storytelling forgot missing that looking good in defeat requires the people needing to actually go forward afterwards... not... wrestler gets close to winning and looks like they could have won.... and story over. Ask Wade Barret what he thinks Cena is probably the only person he can't blame his failure on... Cena was the reason anyone could take him seriously as a main event wrestler when he started as he had TERRIBLE matches with anyone else which is what killed his main event push.
