Who here actually thought that would lead to anything? Lol.
A shame because I actually think he could have been built up to be an upper midcarder. A match against Demon Balor intrigued me. And when he attacked John Cena, I thought “Damn this might be going somewhere...”
A shame they cut it short like everything else. Seeing the original Goldust back with his old movie promos and stuff was awesome.

Obviously they couldn't do all of the things they did in 1996 (not a bad thing), but the glimpses of old Creepdust were nice while they lasted.

He wrestled Cena the match was bad and nobody cared. The year prior they had him turn on R-Truth they spent weeks doing promos back and forth then they did the match and nobody cared. They took him off tv for awhile then he did a promo saying he was looking for a leading lady and that went nowhere. The only time the fans cared about him was teaming with Cody vs The Shield and that was 6 years ago which is a shame I thought him and Mandy Rose could’ve worked as that was the most natural she came off on wwe tv.

Goldust is the fourth local man. I think you'll find there are only two local men!

I thought that was longer than last year but yeah it was great seeing that part gimmick again. Even cooler when he busted up one of the original attire. I'm just glad they got rid of that stuttering stuff he been doing since the shock in 03. He did it everytime he returned after that which was old the first time. Goldust should gotten more pushes being he was in the best shape of his life and was wrestling top level.

Goldust is a legend and bloody awesome dont care what anyone says. It ain't 1996 anymore and his character has been dragged through the mud over the years but the guy worked his ass of to get into great shape in this most recent run and his matches were really good. All they needed to do was push him more seriously, not team him with R-Truth in a lame BookDust knockoff. One more heel IC title run would be nice before he hangs it up.

I was kinda excited when he was bringing back overtly sexual Hollywood dust for a brief while. Then it just vanished.

Remember when he was briefly part of 205 Live?

They kept delaying it and delaying it, having him do that promo in the chair week after week. When they FINALLY did the R-Truth match, it got a mediocre reaction, and then it was back to promos and then that weird SummerSlam valet thing that never came to be. I feel like they gave up too quickly.

I was super into the Truth feud and the leading lady stuff and was bummed the audience didn't really care about it. I have absolutely no recollection of him attacking Cena though.
TBH I would have given Goldust the completely random Jinder push

I like Goldust, but it did feel like age finally caught him, after a long and harried chase. I still think he has something left to give, but it was not using him well, and he isn't able to punch up substandard material the same way he used to anymore.

That promo with the movie script is one of the most amazing things I've seen since I became a lapsed fan in 2005 or so. That it went absolutely nowhere is 100% indicative of why I'm a lapsed fan.
If they don't give a shit, why should I.

If they had followed through on ANY of the stuff they had started with him Dustin would have made it work. Modern day version of old school Goldust? I was SO ready for that. That character can feud with anyone it's so versatile. And not in the 1996 way...

TBH I would have given Goldust the completely random Jinder push I’m not saying that’s a bad idea, but Jinder is 32 and Golddust is 49. There was at least the chance Jinder could grow into the role, and he was their attempt to crack a new market. It didn’t work, but I get their reasoning as far as who they chose for a random shake up the title scene push.

I put Goldust right up there with the Undertaker as one of the best gimmicks ever created, and Dustin Rhodes is one of the all time great talents in the business, which is why I'm always saddened at how both have been squandered over the DECADES, with flashes of brilliance choked by missteps and false starts. I've waited almost 25 years to see him get the respect he deserves and now I fear that it's too late.
