Start of WM 35
John Cena in middle of ring. He says "I know I've been doing movies and stuff, yet WWE is never far away from me. I'M ANNOUNCING MY RETIREMENT MATCH AT WRRRRREEEESSSTTLLLLEEEEEMMMMMAAAANNNNIIAAAAA.....................36. That's right, I'm a big enough star, I deserve my very own 1-year farewell tour, and the Main Event of WrestleMania 36!"
Vince McMahon comes on the screen 5 seconds later and says "You got it, John. But first, you must win every men's championship, and manage a woman to the WWE RAW or SD Women's Championship. And do it all TONIGHT at WrestleMania 35!"
Cena goes "You know what I'm all about by now. You lay the challenge down, I go all out!" slams down mic.
Cena is quickly added to all the men's championship matches. He wins all of them, and goes to Becky Lynch and says "I know you got a big main event tonight, you need a manager like me to get you to the top."
Becky replies "I don't need no stinkin' manager!" and walks off in a huff.
Cena then goes to Ronda, and Ronda gives him the complete silent treatment altogether.
Then he goes to Charlotte, who happily accepts, knowing her dad's respect for Cena. She responds, "Becky and Ronda don't recognize stardom when they see it. I would be honored to have John Cena as my manager."
Cena then gets Charlotte to win the RAW women's title by annoying Becky and getting her to attack him. Charlotte beats Ronda after Nia Jax and Tamina both smash down Ronda with steel chairs. Cena sells this as if Braun Strowman were doing all the moves since he's tired from winning all the men's belts.
Charlotte, Nia, and Tamina go on RAW the next day to become called The Vanguard, sorta like the Shield but different. All 3 of them as champions would dominate the women's division for a while.
There you have it. Becky Lynch vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 36. Year-long feud. Becky and John just do stuff like call unwanted pizza deliveries on each other, they are playful with each other a lot but attack each other too. Think they could pull it off?

So are you selling what you're smoking, or is it your special blend?

Ladies and gentlemen, I believe we have this generation's Kane/Ric Flair.

I don't think he wants that, anyway, seems like a guy who'd rather keep his options open, and he's in a weird zone where right now, it suits him more than retiring outright would.

Honestly I've had enough Cena to last a lifetime as it is.

The problem with Cena's last few years is that there was no transition period where he went from undisputed ace to a guy who could still win some big ones but was there to get others over. He just suddenly started losing more and more and it didn't get anyone over he was feuding with.

He just suddenly started losing more and more and it didn't get anyone over he was feuding with. I think I'd point at him losing to Bryan as that moment. Far back and he's done plenty since, but it was the end of his last WWE title run that had any real length to it, he went from having a stranglehold on the title and / or main event scene at Mania to not having been in either of those positions since, and honestly he's never really felt like much more than a relic they're trying to find scraps for since.

The initial idea of a year long retirement angle became intriguing. And then after reading the subject line, you totally lost me.

So are you selling what you're smoking, or is it your special blend? If you inject it, it hits you quicker.

Nah. I'm good with never seeing Cena again on WWE programming, barring his inevitable HOF induction.

Thing is, him putting over Bryan meant very little since Bryan didn't really become champion. It was just a set up to have an Orton cash in and start that whole Authority storyline. Cena himself basically downplayed it by saying he had a hurt elbow or whatever.
The whole Cena/Lesnar match from SS 2014 was a terrible idea in retrospect. It was basically taking the guy who carried the company for the previous decade and just jobbing him out in a massive squash in order to incessantly push the most worthless guy ever. Since Cena got so thoroughly destroyed it basically made it tough for him to ever put new stars over.

They should then settle their differences and form a tag team when Becky discovers that John Cena can smell heel turns, before they happen. In fact, what if his entire head was just a nose?

These threads are fun, easy to see who didn't read the o.p.
Reminds me of one of the ps3 svr w create a story. I downloaded some guys storyline that had Taker saying to cena, unironically "Yo dawg, go take care of those chumps! woof! Woof!"

I think this angle would need some backstage skits involving full penetration.

I know some members who definitely post weird threads when they're under the influence of something and they need to step it up, goddamn.
At any rate, I see John Cena giving a proper 'last run' kind of retirement angle, but not now. He wants his options open and WWE is still an option here and there, but also he's in his Hollywood "prime" right now. I think we most likely see him get a while out of his chance for mainstream success, and as that winds down for one reason or another I think he comes back into WWE in a more full-time basis for a final run, which is hopefully better than his last few years have been.
