Annnnnd exactly the first thing that set off a red flag for AEW happened. Page should have won. Move forward, stop looking backward. I disagree. I think Jericho is a better first champion. He has more experience and it’s easier to build up people chasing a title than an underdog retaining. Page will get his time but I think they need to build him up more on TV to get the casual fans behind him The whole PAC situation put them into a bad corner. I don't think Jericho or Page were great first options, but it was what they felt was best.

Yea gotta side with making Jericho your first world champ is not what should be happening.
It really IMO sends the wrong message...yea Page looked great but he could have been made if he had gotten to beat Jericho clean as a whistle and head into your weekly show as the face of the company....him feuding with Jericho accomplishes having a recognizable name feuding with your new champ without putting the belt on him as your first champion.

Page is Vincent in the nWo, like it or not Jericho is the better choice for champion. Page shouldn’t even get a rematch or anything.

I only have myself to blame for being disappointed that Punk didn’t show up. Well, it was in Chicago, Punk being in the same city from an earlier event, and not being WWE. You weren't wrong to expect it, lol.

didn't watch it so can't comment on the show, but I will say that Jericho be the inaugural champ is 100% the right move. A well known name as the inaugural world champ helps build the brand for casual wrestling fans.

I know age will catch us all up but Jericho looks bloody terrible I had to kind of chuckle when JR said he looked the best he has in years and I thought 'he looks like dog shit.' That said, Jericho's character work in a match, playing to the crowd etc makes up for him having lost a couple of steps from a 'workrate' perspective. Still a really effective heel in that regard.

This seems like a mediocre show, judging by everything I've read. Wrestling as a whole is just in a lull right now, in my opinion. I wouldnt say mediocre but I dont think the crowd was as into everything as the DoN crowd was

I think I'm going to rewatch the show sometime in the next couple days, mostly since while I still loved what I saw I feel like I missed a lot from my connection dipping for large chunks of it.

Annnnnd exactly the first thing that set off a red flag for AEW happened. Page should have won. Move forward, stop looking backward. Starting the TV shows off with a heel champ gives way more opportunities for storylines than a face champ would. Jericho might be the walking version of Faith No More's Midlife Crisis but he's still a big name in wrestling and pretty much always delivers on big matches. "Midlife Crisis" are really the last two words I need to hear right now with the direction my life is taking...

Come on guys....If Punk, and thats such a huge f***ing IF, then at the first TV-Date. Just to kicke Hunters Balls in from the Start. Anyway that was a good one. Main Event dragged a bit, but they really did the best they could, with that scenario. Later Neighbourinos! I didn’t expect him at all

And just remember, the guy who's now champion for this new tv based promotion is a guy who shows up chubby and out of shape, then claims looking like dogshit is "his gimmick".

Regarding Jericho winning the title, I don't mind. If you can still go in the ring, I don't see why it matters how old you are and Jericho being the champion brings in eyes as an established name for AEW on TNT. If Page isn't there yet (and he's not), what's the harm?

I think Page will win the world title, but I think he won more respect from people from losing this match than he did anything else he's done in AEW yet. It's a good foundation. Maybe have him feud with Spears or MJF and get another crack at Jericho after.

It'll mean more when Page wins it in the future IMO. Now he's tasted that heartbreak only a true babyface can to become full good guy.

Not like Jericho is hold the title for a year straight, so I'm good with it. You can tell they are building their main event squad up before taking the title off Jericho. This match also set Page up as a future star and the chase will be all the better for him.

He won, but I could see him being unsettled, that this should have been easier for him in his eyes.

Convince Angelico or Chuckie T to throw in a few headpats and we're golden.
